    Not exactly like it is free but some, otherwise profitable, contracts might involve lanes that are not profitable as the trucks need to deadhead back but they are in the package. For instance, out of 20 weekly loads, 2 might be done at almost no profit as they go to warren areas. Similar but not quite exactly what KR proposes.

    Most ridiculous idea I've ever heard. Yeah, sure, this would work in a country/culture like Japan, where they'd look at such a passion admirably and would reward it handsomely, BUT, this ain't Japan! Matter of fact, this isn't even the USA many of us remember pre-1980. Many of the brokers are immigrants (nothing wrong with that, moderators) and come from countries/cultures who are even more cutthroat than the USA is. I could name a few brokers who like to hire certain brokers from certain countries who would chew you up, and spit you out if you tried such a thing.

    I like Rutherford, but he's drinking the Kool-Aid from some life coach with no actual life experience on this one.

    Stuff like that will usually work as your gaining on the other 18 loads
    But no one in their right mind would take just the losing ones for a good gesture

    We did the same thing with our flooring business
    We had crews that could install a lot of product and other guys who would spend all day on a small room or staircase

    We would make on the big jobs and crews but that guy who couldn’t get a lot done was still an asset
    He would go do those small jobs or custom staircases while the big crews were on to the next job

    Would the broker give the carrier a fuel card in good faith? Say 5 or 10k?

    Agree 100% with what you said. No freebies given out. Good on time service and good communication skills goes a whole lot further and they know they can't push you around. The same handful of brokers we use for the same lanes shoot us loads before they reach the board. They pay more but they also sleep good at night knowing the load will get there without a hassle.

    Even more so running 2 trucks. When you preform above the rest they start throwing loads at you. Almost 3 years now been running same handful of loads. Sure sometimes somebody comes in and tries to under cut it but we always end up being called 1st call again after the cheaper guy keeps screwing up

    I’ve only listened to him a few times, yrs ago when he first started on the radio. Lots of bean counter BS. How to be profitable. Simple stuff any Idiot can figure out with a calculator. The idea of teaching someone who doesn’t have a clue, is his angle. There’s theories that work on paper, then there’s Reality.
