I appreciate the memories.
I don't know why we ever disposed of those steel bodied tractors. They would certainly till be relevant today.Rideandrepair and bzinger Thank this. -

My 94 freigtliner had a 425 mechanical cat. The last of her kind on a rockwell manual with 40K rears at about 3.45 or so on 24 inch tires. Airride back, spring front. I signed a note on that one for about 41000 dollars that year. I think she had around 34000 miles on her.
I know I keep going back to that year. I was so sick of being kicked and abused as a mere company driver. Stepping out to buy a tractor and get involved with trucking in a BIG way rather than depend on begging someone for a job... that took a set of balls and a little bit of crazy. Im happy I had the oppertunity. But sorry it was botched the way it was. What a waste of time all around that was.TexasKGB Thanks this. -
Most had 10 speeds. Latter-half models had air-ride front suspensions. Pretty decent headroom in the sleepers.
In my opinion they're gorgeous, gorgeous machines. I wonder if one can still make money with one.RubyEagle, Rideandrepair, bzinger and 1 other person Thank this. -
If you are going to shoe a tractor trailer, make them aluminum unless you are TRULY heavy haul.Rideandrepair Thanks this. -
