Hello folks!
In the process of restoring a 78 k100 and have come to upgrading the steering and wanted everyone’s opinion. Truck currently has a manual steering box and with tons of research I think I’ve figured out exactly what I need to purchase to make this a power steering truck.
Steering box:
Ross HFB64046
Pump:
Vickers V10f
And figured I would just find whatever reservoir I can find. Just want to make sure I’m not missing anything before I start spending some money!

I would think you need to make sure any pump pushes enough oil. Or maybe change oil often enough. Don't forget to the gear has to mesh with gear(s) under front gear case.

If the back of the engine oil pump does not have provision for the vickers like most of the old ones don’t you will have to mount the pump remotely on a bracket and run it with belt off of the accessory drive or fan hub. Many trucks that had ac compressors had the vickers mounted above fan hub and one belt from hub to pump. Bracket for pump had the belt adjustment provision. White Motors and Ford did that a lot back then because they had the oil filter screwed horizontally out the back of oil pump.

Not sure what you are going to do with that truck, but you used to be able to add air assist, probably hard to find now. They were fun trying to back in a tight spot.

There is still a company that makes air assist for vintage trucks. At least there was around 10 years ago. Lol. Can’t remember the name but they had the rights to reproduce the exact replacement for the ones Pete used on the old 352’s or anything that had an inboard manual Ross box. Reason I looked into it was my ‘73 352 has it and needs a cylinder rebuild. They offered rebuild kits but at the time it was high $$$$$ and the truck needs an engine first so I put it off.

here is the vickers set up on the 250 in my White 4000. The belt is off but you can see the groove in fan hub it goes to.ElmerFudpucker and cosullivan26 Thank this. -
