how did a topic about finding a company turn into an argument about grammar and spelling in the first place?
-
I dunno..I just checked the thread to see how you was fairing in your search...and poof it was there.
-
Sorry if my post was taken wrong-I wasn't trying to slight you or say you aren't as good as the rest of us out here looking. I was just trying to point out what the companies and more importantly, their insurance carriers have as a viewpoint of young guys and gals trying to get a driving job. At this point, you are more qualified than I am as I don't even have my CDL yet. But companies and insurance carriers like to see life experience before turning one loose with a $100K rig. This is not my original thought, I'm just repeating what has been told to me by family and friends that are in the trucking industry.
You are young, and it isn't your fault you can't possibly have those years under your belt at this point. I do wish you luck, I'm sure you'll land on your feet somewhere soon. Hang in there. -
I just read another thread on here under the newbies ask veterans forum that there is a guy on there with the username of "ssccrab" who is 22 years old and just got hired by Central Refridgerated. I don't know his specifics, just thought it might help you. You might contact him or give Central a try if you're still not having the offers you'd like.
-
no your post was fine, i'm just starting to get frustrated with the whole thing. the school brags about these companies hire our grads but yet i've been turned down by every single one. its like i'm asking for a leg and a kidney. all i want is a chance to prove myself.
-
exactly what i wanted out of this topic and board, leads.
just sent an application to central, would have never thought of it.
in my old job i use to see different trucks everyday, i use to right down the company names. i've forgotten all but the names of the major carriers, wish i was still doing that security job for additional leads. -
got an offer from swift, theirs about a month long wait though. at least its an option.
sent out a few more applications to various companies. -
Don't belive them about a month wait. I got approved at the beginning of June and my orientation date is Sep 15. I was on my recruiter once a week. There are other posters who have been waiting just as long. My recruiter was in memphis, one other posters recruiter is in Phoenix. Go to Motor carriers inside scoop. Then go to DAC reports and look for thread Swift - Syracuse NY and read about the problems. That is where you will go for orientation.
-
i'll give them a call in the morning, the recruiter i talked to was from memphis as well, said he was going to forward my stuff to a recruiter in syracuse.
