Like any new toy, there's a setup procedure. most drivers take something out of the box, plug it in and figure it out as they go. always best to read directions, follow the steps and get the company's support phone number saved in your phone. most of these ELDs can do a lot more than drivers give them credit for. -
I have been using Keep Trucking for 4 months. I am not impressed. Just finished completing my IFTA for the last quarter and I had to input the information manually on the administrative side even though most information for the fueling had been put in. They did offer a online class you could participate in. I have yet to figure out how to correct an error on the administrative side if a driver makes a mistake.

I will probably be switching to Big Road in the near future.

Does Keep Trucking or Big road, work with per 2000 year electric trucks?
-
Depends on what you mean by pre 2000.
A 1999, likely.
A 1995, probably
A 1968, no way in Hades.Intothesunset Thanks this. -
Has anybody used keep trucking with a 1992 ddec 2 Detroit?
Or a 1995 3406e? -
I am not sure on the pre-2000 past 1998.
pre98 does not have all the data the FMCSA wants for proper ELD.
The app may have an issue with it too. If the data is missing, it may throw ELD ERROR.
I can say for certain, 98 and 99 60s Series will work with an ELD, past that, I have not seen any that do. Not sure on the glider kits, Fitzgerald does some pretty cool stuff with older ECMs. I think I remember a 1996 60s Series working.
A 1995 3406e is an interesting beast in re: to the ECM. It likes to reset LTD (life to date) miles.
Had a customer running one and an AOBRD, did not work out too well.
Moved him to EOBRD and he was happy.
As for using a phone for free, I would not do it. I would get a dedicated tablet. Not sure I want DOT having access to my cell. But I am a bit paranoid and glad I am not driving anymore.
Time zone changes are more than likely done in the Admin site, and cannot be adjusted on the mobile. I assume. Guessing it is related to the setup and local terminal settings. You may get the safety dept (or admin) to create your own terminal, if your lucky.
P.S. I am not overly familiar with how KT does the backend. I work with Omnitracs and have played with PeopleNet (a little), one of my customers has both. -
Intothesunset Thanks this.
