hey greenmonster.fwiw,i am stunned that you carry and use an actual atlas.kudos.

i have one of the over the passenger seat fabric organizers and i keep my atlas between it and the seat front.behind the organizer if that is phrased better for you. i keep a wire bound notebook for directions, fuel purchases, state mileages, and all that stuff one tends to write down and keep it on the floor between the seats.i use loose leaf logs and keep them in a metal route clip board/storage thingy.in it is the calculator, extra pens, paper clips, blah, blah, blah.

the longer you are at it,the more creative you will become regarding organization. just keep things simple man and nothing on the dash whatsoever.the milk crate is a great idea actually.i may clean one of mine up that has been used for my dirt bikes.i used one years ago but somehow faded away from them.

I use a milk crate , for cleaning supplies & extra lights , i have a stash of extra pens in drivers side above and a clip board ,gloves and that's it ......of course it's a day cab and we don't need more .....when i was OTR everything went into a breif case ,log books ,atlas , pens all that junk , food & drinks were next to me in the middle so i could reach down and grab whatever while i was doin the
Superflow .....nothing like getting into a good smelling clean truck , it helps make your day smoother......keep it simple & clean

Easy there, tiger--by "while driving", I didn't necessary mean I would use them while the wheels are turning. I'm just looking for ways to keep things in place and not sliding around the cab. I paid about $50 for my atlas and I hate to see it falling off the passenger seat and bending up the pages.

Industrial strentgh velcro. Use it to secure everything from pens to my tablet. Picked up a few of those fast food baskets at the dollar store, velcro them to dash. Use them for items like gum, chapstick, rewards cards etc...

I drive a day cab, so I can leave my briefcase on the passenger seat. Also, at another job driving day cab, I too would have a milk crate. Water bottle, in the cup holder, atlas in the briefcase, logbook on a clip board, mini cassette tape recorder on dash board or in a cubbyhole in the dash. not much else ever needed while driving. (mini cassette recorder is for taking the state line mileage.)

I slip seat and use a tool bag that has all my daily/immediate things in it. They are about five bucks at harbor freight...

no no no noooooo do not use velcro to attach stuff to the dash.....there is nothing worse than getting in a diff truck to find 20 thousand strips of velcro all over the place.

i clipped my pens on the visor, in the little sleeve (on a Pete visor) had a sunglasses clip, map stayed in the passenger seat (yes it was a laminated spiral) bol in the glovebox, cds on the visor....mtn dew in the cupholder....what else ya need ???

I only had one job that I had to worry about recording mileage. It was a PITA! Never thought about using a voice recorder for that. Worst part of it is that I had one in the truck. Just never thought of using it for that purpose.
A product called GOO-GONE is your friend. (Along with eleventeen scents worth of elbow grease.):biggrin_2559:

I bought a seat organizer on my first week out from the truck stop.
