IMO the factory coax is only borrowed time. I get better output with 1 antenna vs 2. I stoppef at my cb guy Friday and had him give me a 18' section of coax with only 1 end. Follow with everything I said before. You will NOT be able to cut and tie to the factory coax to help pull the new coax. It is in sections and zip tied to other wires. You will need to remove the mirror and the "filler" panel below it. In side the truck you will need to remove the door gasket, then the trim above the door, then the corner piece at the edge of the upper cabinet there is 1 screw holding it in, then pull the a pillar trim away there is no need to remove the grab bar, then remove the center section of the upper cabinet. Start at the antenna and route the unmade end of the coax along the same route as the factory coax. Once you get the coax through the grommet below the mirror a long pair of needle nose pliers will help grab the coax. Then run it up the a pillar and in to the cabinet. Now you can put everything back together and go have the other end of the coax connector installed.

Hope this helps. It hard to tell you a honest range that I get due to the terrain of North Georgia and other radio traffic. I do know it's at least 8 miles with a Galaxy 47hp 1 5' firestick with a 1.03 swr. I do have a dummy antenna on the drivers side that looks like a firestick. Plus I think it looks stupid with just 1 antenna.

I think I may do a video in the near future.

Did the Wilson 2000 have the 5" shaft or the 10" shaft? Wonder why the swr was so much higher than the other antennas?

We tried both 5" and 10". My cb guy said for the Wilson to do better I would need (I think) the 20" shaft which costs $35 for just the shaft. The coil simply sits too low on the t680.

I had good luck with the Wilson's on a Pete 389, but that had the coils above the roof line.

I also bought the Pro-Comm Quads from Clays Radio Shop. Brand-new T880. Used factory coax/power with a Galaxy 979 and didn’t sweat it otherwise. With a tanker behind me I was happy enough in comparison to stock antennas.

I also used the Wilson 2000s on a 367 Pete. Took some time to figure out best shaft and then best stinger. Awesome range with the 99v2 out west of the Pecos. Had them on Hustler QDs to remove when loading under. silo

Are you able to use the 99v2 in the Kenworth? I would love to use mine but being a company truck Im not in a position to start making modifications, but with the procomms ( also bought from Robert at Clays) and basic 4 watt radio range is 5 to 10 miles.

Had a 979 Galaxy that fit fine. Left it alone. Picky owner.

Home made antenna. 81 inches long.
3/8" stainless shaft. 6 gauge copper coil.

Not sure of the 99, but.
My Galaxy 47hp doesn't fit in the over head cabinet in my Kenworth t880 or the 680 that I had. I made 2 aluminum L brackets out of plain bar stock from Home Depot. I removed the center sun visor and reused the screws that holds the visor. I can hear the cb better like this anyway because I'm not forced to use the KWs crap external speaker.

Ridiculous. You can get a 44" shaft from Walcott CB for $32.95.

Local cb shops aren't always the cheapest. I'd just buy a Hustler antenna @ $60 rather than a Wilson @ $45 and another $35 for the shaft.
