They are like giant black plastic ice cubes. I don't like the gauges either. Especially the FAT needles.

And like you mentioned the downtime. The Freightliner dealer in Phoenix couldn't be trusted to work on your kid's big wheel.

The Volvo dealer there is outstanding.

    Dunno about Inland or Rush.

It's a total crap shoot on which ones have a qualified wrench.
Trucks under warranty, takes 2 days just to get into the shop, day or two later, still has the same issue.
Part of that is the technology changing so fast, dealers can't keep pace.

A new Icon, like a '17 or '18 should have an X15, not an ISX. The X15 is supposed to be the cats pajamas.
But not a whole lot of real world feed back yet.

I know people that have had the ISX altered, really like it.

There is no way I would spend $156k vs $38k on s truck I have owned. At 745k, those rears and trans are good for much longer if he has taken care of it. He must be getting the platinum overhaul and a new clutch. He could probably buy a rebuilt 6nz and swap it and still be money ahead, cheaper than 38k.

I looked over an Icon W900 at Chattanooga MHC several months ago. It was a Fitzgerald glider with a 12.7L Detroit. I didn't pay much attention to the interior. One interior is about as good as another as far as that goes imo. I did like that this particular truck had disc brakes. I thought it was a nice truck.

I am not familiar with these trucks, but I see my mechanic rebuilding isx's all at the time at 500k miles.
He says for the last few years they have been making complete junk. Heck I have even seen isx's with 200-300k miles eating 2-3 gallons of oil per week

Update is Icon w900 is out, keeping what he has. Truck is going in next week. Pulling motor, and doing some other work I think. They quoted him 24,000$ range for complete out-of frame, Cat parts, 4 year unlimited mile warranty. Thought that was about right.

The 38,000$ is for all the work he is looking to do.

I think it's nicer then a new Icon w900. Worth putting the money into. But that's just my opinion

    That's a beautiful truck @Largecar359. I would keep rebuilding it until I couldn't anymore.

No one can go into the dealer and buy that truck like they can the ICON. Never seen one like that one. I like the red fenders.

$24,000 for an out of frame sounds like a bargain. No way I would have gotten rid of that truck. Looks like he took good care of it.
