Kerosene in diesel.

Cummins used to sell a used oil / fuel blending machine. Drew oil out of the oil pan , fuel from the tank , then returned mixed back to the fuel tank. Was a "green" way to dispose of waste oil. Still have mine . Would not use in anything with DPF.

 

Back then if you were in a pinch for a small power gain you could have your engine return line pinched..

Power Service additive? I've used it in my personal car (TDI), and on occasion we've added it to one of our older trucks here (not to our newer ones; I keep forgetting to ask our boss about it.).

 

ATF is high detergent oil, it is very effective at cleaning surfaces and would not dry the fuel as an additive.

 

Power Service is a great product, I used it and recommended it for years. We also used it undiluted in our bench tool for cleaning and servicing injectors when overhauling them, for a tune up or engine rebuild scenarios.

 

Around my area the only kerosene available is the ultra low sulfur variety with 15 ppm of sulfur content the same as ULSD. So it won't negatively affect exhaust after treatment systems on newer diesels. Years ago if a big once in a decade cold snap was coming through TN where we saw temps drop down to -10* F we would put a few gallons of kerosene in the diesel tanks of whatever tractor was needed to feed cows and the pickup truck to prevent gelling.

It works good for that. I don't know why anyone would want to "clean injectors" by running the stuff. The injectors in my CAT motor were working just fine when they were replaced at 1.1 million miles with a set of reman injectors. I don't understand why people put additives in fuel and/or motor oil. It's really unnecessary. Oil additives are snake oil. Anti-gel is only needed in rare extremely cold temps down south where the fuel isn't winterized like it is up north. Injector cleaning is a snake oil ruse.

 

I didn't put anything in my fuel all winter this past year. Stayed up north in the cold too, never had any issues.

 

As long as its ultra low sulfur fuel 15 ppm sulfur content it is not going to hurt these new engines. They have a sticker on the pump that will say 15 ppm ULSK.

Yes, and ATF is one of the first things I reach for if my hands are terribly greasy! Great hand cleaner, and final clean with GoJo works good.
