After a 2-year hiatus, I just completed my first run (well, ALMOST complete), from Henderson NV to Everett WA. The trip was beautiful, as I had never been through OR, ID and WA. Cabbage Hill was a wonder to behold.
Now for the bad news: I have been sitting in my truck for over 7 hours waiting to get unloaded here at Kettle Cuisine. Just an advisory for you guys before coming here. Make sure you have your accessorials all spelled out and signed. Especially if you use TQL. A total clown show.
What really gets my goat is that I had to cancel a backhaul from Selah, loading today, going back home to Henderson, delivering on Monday afternoon. Just 7 miles from my house. I could have taken my sweet time and just taken in some local towns, food and scenery.

Is this reefer or dry van? What type of place is Kettle Cuisine?
It's also a blessing in disguise. That's not the ground you really want to cover anyway. There's much better territory. -
It's a soup place. They bought some of Campbell's locations. I'm in a dry van but the reefers have been waiting all day also.
I'm all ears about better territory. What do you suggest? Generally speaking, because I don't expect people to divulge what they know.austinmike, The_vett and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
Here is an update for you guys. It is now 3:10 am PCT. I got here at 9:30 in the morning yesterday. So it has been almost 18 hours and I STILL don't have a dock. Please AVOID this place.
austinmike, The_vett and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
I wanted to give you guys a final update about this load, in case any of you get a delivery to Kettle Cuisine in Everett, WA. I finally got a dock at 0900 the dat after I arrived at the receiver. I was unloaded in less than 30 minutes. So I was at the receiver for exactly 24 hours waiting to get unloaded.
austinmike, The_vett and Dave_in_AZ Thank this. -
Sounds like a classic case of no one making you an appointment.
-
That's what it was. The broker lied. But even the guys that DID have appointments were being screwed. One guy got there at 4am for a 10am appointment. He didn't get a dock until about 3pm.The_vett Thanks this.

Still this may be the why, but it is unacceptable. Why is there not a dept. or org. something to support all of you Drivers in this situation? I am learning things are happening that I would have thought would be laws against it. 1/2 hour to unload and over a day wait ? NO way ! This is too much. They can make HOS and put ELDs and make laws but all the while THIS KIND OF THING IS HAPPENING? Unacceptable and something needs to be done.austinmike and gekko1323 Thank this.
