Listen, you take him with a grain of salt. If you don't know, you think he's the greatest, if you've been out here a while then you know what works for you and what doesn't. It's not a one size fits all. It's capatolism at it's finest. If he can sell you on something, whether it be an idea or a product, then he's accomplished what he's tried to do. You take it and go from there.

Driving and running a business are 2 different things. We have far to many O/O's that are clueless about business. Just because you can drive doesn't mean you can run a trucking business.

How many thought after making a great sandwitch felt you had all the skills you needed to open a sub shop? But that is what happens every day in trucking.

As far as being able to run the buisness with out the driving skills, sure, it can be done. Anything can be done but doesn't make it the smart move.

How about focussing on turning some steering wheel holders that own a truck into business owners?

    TennTrucker and 281ric Thank this.

    WRONG WRONG WRONG

That might make them more competitive with me. I want pure unadulterated Ayn Randian competition. Remember, selfishness is a virtue! The stupider my competition is, the smarter I am in comparison.

I faill to see the connection of slowing down to anyone that will write a check. Are you claiming the mega carriers are backing them she to their trucks being governed? Just not following what you are trying to say here.

So does burning through your profits at 75. And idling them away as well. You ever hear the story of the two bulls? One says " let's run down and bang one of those girls". The other one says "let's walk down and bang them all". It's like that in trucking now. This isn't the old days anymore. Fuel is $4 a gallon. Enforcement has been stepped up. And it costs a lot to run a business. Slow and steady makes for a fatter wallet and a better bottom line.

I spent many nights hearing Rutherford preach the slow trucking sermon. Thanks for pointing out my poor grammar as it has confused even me after reading it. I am new to these forums and not used to writing down my thoughts. But yes, I will say they all would overlook any mega carriers faults if only to make them a sponsor.
