And here I was thinking our numbers were down and waiting and looking forward to them coming back up.
Those numbers were before the carrier got their 15% . Wasn't that long ago that those numbers would have been to the truck after carrier got their cut. So there, that's my exaggeration. Lol
The best year I ever had I only ran 77,000 miles, would like for some of that to come back but until the oil industry comes back we will just have to keep on keeping on.

Not sure and don't care, they asked us to put bids in on where they want their goods shipped. When they call and we haul, that is what they pay us, whatever they pay that broker is none of my concern. I do know you ain't getting their freight without going through him. They never try to talk us down, they offer we accept or decline the loads based on truck availability. We use these to get us home or most of the way home.
Also some of the other companies may get more or less than what we do. I have no idea what they bid on the loads.

Yep. Who cares what the broker got. You either get your rate and pull it, or don't and go pull something else.

Why is it others gotta come on here and whine about how trucking is nothing but modern day slavery. Whine how every broker is getting rich for doing nothing but sitting at their desk.

Well your on a whole different subject.new drivers starting out I can understand getting discouraged.they usually paying for school, probably have a family trying to support usually start at bottom of pay scale.Gone from there family for sometimes weeks, and on top of that some are ridiculed for where there working from other drivers. The broker part I think the ones that complain the most don't even run brokered freight.any broker I would find being dishonest I never used again. There are 3 types of brokers good usually small with there own office not an agent for a company.soso usually agent for example landstar, mercer there not dishonest but very hard to get a good rate from.and there are dishonest ones see TQL.

This a post that has been around for a few years. Sounds like KR's show!

Hi Kevin, thanks for taking my call. (sat delay). Are you there? Ok, I wanted to ask about wide singles.
KR: throw your tires in the ditch and get wide singles now. They'll pay for themselves in 6 months. Do you have a scangauge?
Ok thanks thats what I wanted to know. Can you connect me to Lisa, I'd like to get a scangauge.
KR: sure. Let's go to... Virginia -- Charles welcome to the program. Actually its about time for a break, but we'll get to Charles when we come back.
    ... Join schneider's tanker fleet
Mercer transportation doesnt rape you as much as everyone else
Have a ratty ol truck? We understand at Oakley trucking
KR: welcome back. Charles are you still with us?
    ....
KR: uh oh, looks like we may have lost--
-- Yeah Kevin I'm here. Thanks for taking my call how are you?
KR: I'm great, whats on your mind?
Well here's the deal, I drive an old piece of #### and it has broken down and I want to know whether I should fix it or get a new truck.
    KR: Is it preEGR?
    Yeah
KR: Fix it. Next caller... lets go to.... Nebraska - Jack welcome to the program.
Hi kevin thanks for taking my call. I just want to suck the peanuts from your turds for all you and Leesa do to help us get swindled by carriers.
KR: thank you, but it isn't just me -- you are the one doing...the...hard...work...
Here's my question. I'm getting 6mpg and I want to know what I can do to bump that up.
KR: Buy a scangauge. THat'll get you a half mpg right there. Then a pittsburg power @R muffler. Then a Fleet @R air filter. And a FASS @R fuel system. That will get you to 7.25. Then slow down and run in 12th.
Oh Ok thanks Kevin. What about the Turbo 3000?
KR: It hasn't worked since they stopped paying me
    Gotcha. Thanks Kevin.
KR. Sure. Lets go to... California Charlene welcome to the program.
    Hi Kevin, how are you?
KR doing great, what can I do for you?
Well I have an old truck and wonder if I should retrofit or buy a newer truck.
KR: Hold that thought we have to get to a break....
    same commercials...
KR: Ok welcome back. Charlene was askingabout California and my answer is alwaysthe same. Fair tax. Er I mean don't run California.
    But I live here.
KR: Move. Next caller... Lets go to... Ore-a-gone.. John welcome to the program.
Hi Kevin, thanks for taking my call. Thanksfor everything you do to help us little guys. Here are my numbers what do you think?
KR: Lets see... Top line $1.10/mile -- that's all miles, right?
    Yeah
KR: OK good. Fuel is 55cpm? You gotta get that down. Make a plan to get that down to 35cpm. You need to do...the...hard...work... Do you have a scangauge?
    No.
    KR: Get that first thing.
But what about my revenue? Do I need towork on that?
KR: Its not great, but we can work with it. I have guys making $35,000/year running $1.05/mile. Whelp it looks like we are all out of time folks. Stay tuned for Jonesy as he mediates akward conversations from antisocial truckers
