Listening to the beginning of his program Saturday 4/11/15 @16:00 hrs edt. He starts the program by saying he needed to do routine maintenance on tractor and RV with the studio in it. While doing a test drive bobtailing he said the engine threw a rod. Then he yammered on about doesn't matter how many oil analysis you do metal fatigue is totally unpredictable yada yada yada.
I am betting he follows all of his own advice, 300,000 between oil changes just filters and analysis, Evans Coolant, Fleet air filters etc.
With 2 high profile failures a month apart I am thinking some of his advice is less than creditable. And his recent trend of giving medical/fitness/ nutrition advice might be deadly. Lets hear his excuses this time...
Kevin Rutherfrauds own personal tractor throws a rod.

yeah I'll keep running my Delvac and doing 30,000 mi oil changes, greasing trk every week and never have issues. It should be interesting to hear how he tries to explain this one. Wonder if PP builds him an engine?. Probably lugged the crap out of that dripdroit.
Raiderfanatic Thanks this. -
UUUMMMM he was test driving routine maintenance ???
semi retired semi driver Thanks this. -
This guy is the gift that keeps on giving.

So he knows for sure it was due to metal fatigue... lol.
It was probably due to a massive blown head gasket...
due to zero liner protrusion...
combined with running 185° operating temp (remember, the DD engineer said anything over 180° was lethal beyond hope)...
which also warped the head...
which allowed the Evans to flood that cylinder...
and since Evans (liquid) isn't compressible....
the rod broke!double yellow, Lone Ranger 13 and Hammer166 Thank this. -
Gosh, who built that engine?
And metal fatigue is pretty well understood:
Stay below the fatigue limit and steels/titanium will last indefinitely. But if you take an engine designed to make 430hp and turn it up to 650hp -- I can all but gaurantee you will exceed the fatigue limit of some parts &, left unchecked, will eventually have a fatigue failure.
Other likely possibilities are having a bearing lock up (would be pretty easy to spot if this were the case) or hydrolock...KB3MMX and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
Considering the guy can't even properly clean an air filter nothing more really needs to be said.

Tried to find more info on facebook -- seems that any mention of it in the usual KR places gets deleted
Cat sdp Thanks this. -
I would love to know what really happened & I'm afraid we may never find out. This thread was started 2 hours ago & we don't have a bunch of acolytes rushing to his defense?
