After work, my boss offered to buy me lunch. Rule number 1. you never say no to a boss when it comes to lunch; especially BBQ. While getting lunch, the owner says congrats. Ok guys, I was clueless until he reminds me my probationary period is over. My day probationary period is over. I received a .50 cent raise and a atta boy from my boss.

I love this company and love the work. After work I cried because I felt wanted and know my superiors trust me. You can not buy passion and I have a lot of it. I love the people who I work with. They treat me like a normal person and help me become a better person. They let me learn at my own pace. As a result, I have become more self sufficient and happier. I hardly have any stress on me. Overall, I love it.

    Hiya guys,

This week has been good. Most of the time I have confidence in myself. However, there are times that I lack confidence but my coworker helps me build that. He will tell me what to expect. If theres an issue, I call my boss. My coworker also told me what to do if I run out of things to do when my boss runs errands. I am not only a driver, but I help run the shop. I do all of the yard work, organization of our supplies, prepare the route truck and etc.

My boss asked me if I wanted to try working a Saturday and I said yes. I am often bored on weekends and it is nice to be called in. One thing that is great about this gig is that there is no stress in it for me. Everything is straight forward. This is no gray areas. It is this way or that way no median. My favorite part of this business is the places we go to. I have been in so many restaurants that I know the good places. Some people know me by name and often ask how my family is doing.

Wells guys another week has gone by. I particularly like this field. Do not get me wrong, the customers can sometimes be a challenge but I deal with them in a polite and professional manner. I have found that calling my boss is sometimes the only option. Now part of my duties is I do lawn work a lot and I must say my weed wacking skills are getting better (trust me). I maintain over 2.5 acres of lawn and love the excersize I get from doing it.

I love learning new things especially when my boss lets me watch him. I was filling two big tanks and got a chance to learn how to change valves on some of the tanks. I also got to learn how read when a tank needs a new certification. Finally, I have also learned how to be alone at the shop when my boss runs errands. If my boss ever reads this, thanks for letting me learn under your expert toolage. Also set a record of getting hours at 31.5.

Edit: If you have any questions about CO2 or dry ice, shoot a reply. I am happy to answer any questions one might have.

I'm going to put this simply......I've followed your trials and tribulations over the years and it seems like you've found something you're happy with, whether you're getting enough drive time or not is up to you, but if you're truly happy with this job stick with it.

I've been in PA for the last 2 months now and can honestly say I don't much care for it. I left a good thing in Florida with Pritchett, granted my wife is obtaining her LPN license while we're here, and if all goes well we'll be back in Florida in less than a year, but this is the toughest thing I've ever had to do in my life.

The point I'm making, don't let anyone around you guide the path you make for yourself in life, if you're happy doing what you're doing stick with it. Because all the money and the "large cars" in the world don't mean a #### thing if you're not happy at the end of the day!!!

I would say that this is a good decision for me TT. I am not letting anyone dictate where I go in life but I take suggestions. I chose to find god on my own and chose to do this job accordingly. One of the biggest differences here compared to doing OTR is the fact that I am home every night and I get to see my family weekly. I also have a new pet; a cat named Bella Velvet. Another is the experience I am getting which is Class B hazmat.

Do I think my disability played a part in my previous jobs?? Yes as it can be a challenge to get a long with me and understand me. Some employers do not want that challenge and I respect that. Fortunately my boss has made an effort to work with me. My coworker has made that effort too. This has made my life easier on me at this job. My boss, his boss, and everyone that works with me trusts me. In the end I like my current job and situation. I am outside and am growing thicker skin.

Well guys the first two days have gone by of the week. What I like about my boss is he slowly introduces me into things. He is open for questions but wants me to figure stuff out. For instance, he wants me to able to diagnose a problem with a tank, see if I can fix it. If not, better to learn right than wrong.

Also, I am starting to do a route myself. I usually do it with the Australian (I sware he has a accent from down under yet hes from the US). I am impressed with myself. My boss will give me my stops first. I then make a educated guess on how many mt's they have, and load my truck. Anything over half ton, and my placards show appropriately. Anyways left at 11am and got to 1 stop before I got called back due a unexpected business meeting. Boss told me we can do the route tomorrow (yeah more hours for me). I'll say it again, I love doing shop work and driving. I get my experience in both parts of this field.

    Amen to that 48.

I gotta give it to the Sysco and Sygma drivers and food service driver's. I see a lot of them and would like to give them credit for the hard work they do. I go to a couple of places I would not dare to in a 53 (let alone back one) and they do it just fine with a 28 or 36 pup. I usually see them Intl 8600 or Volvo VNL64T430's. They do sure know how to put that trailer where it needs to go.

One thing compared to my OTR job is I get to choose which routes I go to get to my destinations. If I have a short cut that saves me time and I am allowed to take it, my boss allows it. In this business time is everything. If a customer needs something and I have enough, it is a win win.
