Chainsaw said: ↑Kllm has been circling the drain since at least 2005, if not before. After getting clear of the Bernie Ebbers and Worldcom backruptcy, the company got involved in some costly lawsuits resulting from accident liability in 2007. The silent partners moved in 2008 (Southern Tire Mart, Utility Trailer of MS) just in time for the collapse of the economy. Kllm is a single customer company (Fresh Express) backed up by a lot of broker freight.
In 2008 they lowered the governed speed on company trucks, began rigorous enforcement of logging regulations and started a campaign to 'steer' long time company employees into lease purchase plans. This coincided with a migration of management personnel from C.R England into the Kllm ranks.
Kllm is notorious for vengeful DAC reporting. The unwritten company policy was that if you were not good enough for Kllm, you were not good enough of anyone else, at least as far as they were concerned. The company publicly praises drivers as the most valuable asset while privately referring to them as pieces of sh#t. If you have ever fallen victim to the level 1 through 5 log violation system, you have seen this in action.
Kllm is a numbers driven company. They have a lot of numbers, especially when it comes to mileage pay. There is one number for the actual mileage between two points, another number for the mileage paid between those points, still another number for the mileage the Qualcomm reports and finally another number that the load planners use to schedule appointments for the drivers. When I started with the company in 2004, a driver was only required to log paid miles. That ended following the lawsuit hysteria in 2007. Company policy changed to all miles driven had to be logged from the odometer.
As I mentioned Kllm is a single primary customer company. The regional operations exist to support the single customer. Here is where a driver will get the most pressure to deliver on time. Safety and operations are always at odds, the driver is always in the middle of that fight.
Kllm paid me on time. That is the only thing I can say good about my 4 year relationship with this company. They are vengeful and spiteful. The company comes first, no matter what the circumstances. I would not recommend them, period. Stay away.
I know from first hand experience that high seniority drivers will report other drivers in an effort to make themselves look good to management. There are more rats in that company than a run down New Jersey tenement apartment building. Recruiters are known to frequent this forum and others talking up how wonderful the company is. Remember, they work on commission and will tell you anything to sign up. Drivers also scam the forums trolling for recruiting bonuses.Click to expand...
