You did the right thing for turning down national carriers. That job is below average at best. I worked there for four months and that was the worst decision I ever made. Some people on here swears it the best job in trucking because they are owned by national beef. Miles are average on a good week

KLLM recent bought Ecoshield. It was a company of about 50 trucks, I hear. For the time being they are only taking OOs but that will change also. When they start hiring company drivers, you might be able to make more transferring over there. They handle Hazmat loads.

I am enjoying KLLM. I’m not used to someone giving me a fuel route so it takes getting used to. I saw a bridge 13’ 6” so I re routed myself, i was told by my dispatcher if I go off route I’ll have to pay for gas.
I made a stupid mistake and had someone signal me to back up, I trusted they were watching my trailer but nope I hit a pole. He was apologizing while on the phone with claims. It was reported on my dac but thankfully I was not fired. Lesson learned.
The reefer is something I have to learn, I was not shown how to use it. I sleep just fine with it on.
I do have one issue, either I am asking questions that don’t make since or the dispatcher is an idiot. I actually called once gave her my name and truck number. She spent five minutes telling me that I was not me. When I finally convinced her it was me she laughed and said I played a prank. I ask questions and get odd or answers that make no sense. I have to find answers from other people.
Today I sent a message, the place where the lock goes on the trailer door is missing. I will not be able to secure the door as told in orientation. Her response was to purchase a lock because I lost the lock that was issued to me. She told me to put the lock on the place above the handle on the door. It took seven messages back and forth for her to understand that I cannot put a lock where the lock usually goes. -
All the drivers at the company I have met have been polite and seem to help out if possible.
Chinatown Thanks this. -
Don't ever snitch on yourself. That DAC report can build up fast if you do.

I drove under 13'6 bridges several times and didn't have an issue. Aside from NYC, just go under them slowly and you should be fine.
You have to pay for fuel when you go off route? Even with construction detours? I haven't heard of that before. My partner and I have gone off route plenty of times with FFE because the fuel route was stupid and we just called dispatch and said we are fueling here instead. They said OK and approved our card to buy there.
One time we had to haul some food to LA from Dallas. We got routed up to I-40 to fuel in Abilene. Then west again off I40 before dropping down back to LA. We just took I20 and stayed on it. No one said anything.FlaSwampRat, Chinatown and Texas_hwy_287 Thank this. -
