No detention until after 4 hours..spend 5 hours 59 minutes at shipper..get $10

FREIGHTLINER TRUCKS always braking on their own..need to remove foot from pedal to change from 62 to 65 mph..truck brakes to 55 mph when remove foot from accelerator..then takes 5 minutes to get back up to 65 mph..trucks will rarely coast..unless there is two miles between you and the next vehicle..STUPIDITY!!!!
insipidtoast Thanks this. -
Do you do OTR or linehaul?. What's your average miles per week. I don't really care about not getting paid detention if the miles are there to make up for the unpaid time.
Right now I can't seem to get over 2300 miles in a week. Just not enough money to live in a truck.Upinsmoke Thanks this. -
Sit on pickups and deliveries for a day each week..never got more than 2000 miles a week..no layover pay..
Redtwin Thanks this. -
2k miles is a non starter for me, unless they were paying like 65-70 CPM which of course they don't.

I average around 2500mi a week with kllm doing OTR. I’m still very much a newbie. kllm has otr, regional, local and dedicated. ffe has the linehaul, regional, local and not sure if anything else.
Our Atlanta yard is interesting and I believe it’s being expanded. I’ve never had issues there with finding someone to operate the yard dog to pull a trailer. kllm is outgrowing several of their yards.
Never had issues with requesting layover or detention. Detention is pretty rare for me. Layover had been happening a bit more lately when the virus affected meat processors.
I’ve not had issues with the freightliner trucks. The cruise likes to coast when it detects the top of the hill and keeping the pedal down prevents it. Coasting down just depends on traffic.
I’ve not had any experience with breakdown pay. I was close enough to home when I had trouble with first truck.
Our hometime policy is what attracted me; 2 days earned for every 7 out (maxes out at 14 days off, no rollover). Can take up to 7 days with the truck and only asked to clean the truck out if taking more than 7. Must leave truck at yard if you live within 150mi. Lots of company I’ve spoken with do 2 weeks out 4 days home.
I lived to close to yard, I take my hometime at my sisters who lives further away. I like to do 24 out and 6 home to keep my intentions clear.Last edited: Jul 4, 2020

As stated from the KLLM driver above about cleaning out your truck if you are away longer than 7 days I have heard of that. On the FFE side I haven't heard of that policy. I have been away from my truck for 10 days and no problem. I am getting ready to take two weeks vacation and haven't been told my truck will be reassigned. Hopefully not, because it will take me a whole day to unload it.
As a solo driver mileage was around 2500 - 3000 a week. Team is double.
Linehaul didn't really slow down with the covid-19. They did have us do a lot of loads off the board.
My truck is regulated at 62. It does have the pass smart which gives you 30 min of 70 mph. I usually average 600 - 640 miles a dayLast edited: Jul 4, 2020

Right now I'm just not making enough of it with tanker. The cpm is decent at 47 or 52 depending on hazmat or not, but the miles just aren't there. With 4 years experience,Im making less than I made as a rookie doing dry van and reefer at 37cpm. With FFEs CPM I would want about 3200-3500 miles per week and noone there, (any company really) can guarantee that.Last edited: Jul 4, 2020

Great thread! Has anyone heard anything about the new location in Rocky Mount NC? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
