I drove for FFE 10 years ago and then they had tons of meat loads out of Oklahoma and Colorado. Really got screwed waiting on them that was my only complaint. Pay sucked too but it was my starter company so I didn’t care too much

I started with FFE in January and have had a truck for 6 mos now. It's a '17 Cascadia. Only broken down twice. Drove it to a Freightliner dealer and got it fixed. I run 3 to 4 weeks at a time and have had a 3k mile week once. The rest has been around 2200 miles or less. The pay is 40 cents a mile, period.
I'll be turning in my truck tomorrow for a 10 cent a mile increase to start plus APU, inverter, refrigerator and pd TV. They say the have the miles but, I'll let you know later.
FFE is just a good starter company unless you're running plasma, that's where the money is but you have to run teams. With me it would be Thunderdome, 2 men enter, 1 comes out, or however that goes. I dont play well with others.
If you're running solo be ready to sit. I sat in Xenia, Ohio for 6 days. There were no loads. Usually sat 2 to 3 days. If you're running solo out of Lancaster remember the name Lizzie. If you end up there PM me and I'll give you her phone number. She always needs a load hauled, drop and hook, and you can stay busy while you're waiting for linehaul to come up with something. It's a good gig. No one is on your back. You haul the load and the schedule is loose enough to be pleasant. If you're nice to the dispatchers they'll be nice to you.
If you stay with FFE for a year after going through their school you owe them nothing. If you don't it's prorated.
They used to have bonuses but don't now. I cant figure out if they really want to retain drivers or not but I'm leaving because I can make $20k to $30k more elsewhere.
I'm glad I went through their school. If you have 2 brain cells to rub together you will get your CDL. Don't expect to learn anything else. It's all about the CDL. The 6 weeks of training after is where you're going to learn about the rest of how to be a driver.Redtwin and Wasted Thyme Thank this. -
Thanks for the help. I already have my CDL. I was looking for info on the Rocky Mpunt NC location. Seems to be opening soon. Drove by yesterday and there wasn't any trucks or trailers in yard. FFE sign out front.

The same information for pay will apply. Matt used to be my favorite dispatcher and is in charge there. They'll be running like all the terminals. Job openings will be yard jockey and local with the possibility of some regional I would guess. Stop in and say hi.

Medical insurance is like $250 a month for a single person. Don't know the exact amount. It is through United Healthcare.
Vacation pay. 1st year = 1 week paid .
2nd year = 2 weeks paid.
Sick days = 40 hours a year paid.
I drive a 2020 Cascadia, it has a fridge and inverter.Last edited: Aug 20, 2020
