You're taking advice from someone who has had their CDL for 6 months. On top of that he went in with the attitude it was a starter company. Just to get a CDL. Look at his other post. He said when he was a month into it, that he was only going to do 6 months.
No company is perfect. You have to weigh the good with the bad. If you look at my other post to him, I told him before he even went to school that for the 1st 6 months you will get the least amount of miles. Get the older trucks. Why, because he is new and hadn't proved himself. He also started during the pandemic. FFE main customers are schools, restaurants, and hospital cafeterias.
My 1st 6 months I thought I wasn't making any money and sat a lot. I stucked it out. ( my W2 rookie year was close to 60k) Then came spring, summer, and fall, my loads picked up. I also went and talked to the dispatchers at the other terminals. Asked if they had any loads they needed help on.
Linehaul loads usually go out on Thursdays - Sunday. Knowing that, you will either sit or help out with local or regional while waiting.

The 2020 I trained in had a refrigerator but no inverter that I could see. Other trucks that already have them stay in the truck.Wasted Thyme Thanks this. -
Low miles and an old shop queen truck just isn't going to work for me. Even if I get moved into a brand new 2021 truck and they feed me 3500+ miles after the 6th month, I still have to be able to cover my expenses for months 1 to 6.
No hard feelings though, I will wave as I pass by your Dundee terminal as it is walking distance from mine. -

@Jenn72 Do you know what they run out of the Portland location? Regional, local, etc?
Wasted Thyme Thanks this. -
Local is paid hourly and home daily.
Regional is 500 miles. Paid by the miles plus stop pay. Home a couple days a week. -
DFW still need line-haul right?
