I broke my kneecap (clutch knee), displaced closed fracture of the patella, had surgery and am wanting to get my cdl. I can’t go back to what I was doing (working retail) mentally or physically. Too much standing and too many idiots. I can manage 40 degrees of bend in my knee after only one PT appointment. Am I barking up the wrong tree? My buddy who has driven for years told me a lot of the trucks are auto drive now. What do y’all think?

Make sure it’s 100% healed or it will burn.

Driving the truck in my mind is not going to cause much of an issue. If you have an issue it is going to be things like getting in and out and climbing in and out of trailers to check on things and/or sweep them. Just take it easy and I see no reason to not try to be a trucker.

Have had surgery on both knees, was off about 3 months.

All truck clutches are not equal either, some are much easier to depress than others.
That said, sounds like many companies have gone to autos anyway.Lepton1 Thanks this. -
Yes, they have. I was thinking a few minutes ago about a guy that I used to know well that has osteoarthritis just as I do. He has had his right hip and I believe his left knee totally replaced. In his late 50s and still fights tarping a flatbed. It can be done. Just not really easy!
