when you read this just remember, this is my experience, its not how it goes for everyone and its not how it is everywhere ... people come on here and say bad things about alot of companies and then some say good things .. but remember, there are always two sides of companies, the good and the bad... just wanted to remind you all of that before i go further ....

ok my exp with knight trans ....ill put this in red ...

i was told how much id make per mile and about the per diem before i was even hired onto knight ... i was told about the average in miles and hometime as well before i was hired ...

this is going to be short cause i dont have any complaints about my experience with knight .... they have lived up to what was told to me before i went to orientation ...

my hometime is ok .. i like it ... of course the pay can be better but at least i am working ...

i am a regional northeast driver for them and like it .. there are times they will send me to north carolina and out to chicago but that is ok .. i dont mind ..

i needed to get to wisconsin for my sons graduation and they made it happen for me ..

i am on here and see the good and the bad things said about the company, and i know alot of them have legit arguments about knight .. others take it an extreme .. i do however, in my 13 yrs have come to this conclusion about knight ...

its really basically how you handle yourself and most importantly , what terminal you run out of ...

i go into other terminals and talk with drivers from terminals all over the country .. some have good things to say and some bad .. its really how the people run certain terminals that can make a driver happy or make him feel unrespected ...

my terminal manager with knight is great .. i have a good relationship with him and he treats me with respect and helps out when i need something done, fixed or in my sons case get to wisconsin ... he does his best and i respect that ..

i have a good friend who runs out of another terminal thousands of miles away and its a nightmare for him .. his people treat him different from the way mine treat me ...

i talked to another out of chicago and he isnt getting miles... he says and i quote " i send in my empty call and have to wait all day for an answer " ... another said i send it in and 15 minutes later i am on the phone with them ... he has no problems.. one says he waits for the 1000 plus runs and gets no miles, another says ill take the 300 to 550 runs cause they add up ... so basically with this company just like others, its how you are treated at the terminals and what kind of driver you are .. i know good drivers get shafted all the time with knight and all the other companies, that why i said it all depends how your people treat you as well .. but with knight, so far, there are no complaints ...

ok i take that back, i do have 2 ...

truck gets washed once a month .. i cant deal with that so i wash it on my dime once a week ..i cant stand a dirty truck, i cant breathe right when its dirty ,,, but thats minor ..

passenger policy ... parents, siblings, kids ( including step with proof ) are allowed .. no freinds, no fiancee's etc ... that i dont like but hey, i knew it before i applied with them ...

ok now to Fischer trucking in ft wayne, ind ...

fischer trucking in ft wayne indiana is a great company. i was with them for awhile and they treated me very good, with respect and i never had any complaints with them. they are actually the best company that i have ever worked for ..

the company owner, allen, is right there in the dispatch room.. when i was there i had a awesome dispatcher, his name was Buck .. i needed hometime, i was there everytime, on time, no question or doubt about it ..

i needed extra money and got advanced and was given the chance that 50 a week would come out so i had money .. that was great ..

passenger policy was from day 1 and i used that to my advantage .. pet policy was fine as well and took advantage of that ...

to be very honest, with fischer i never sat more than 18 hours or so, i could be off by 3 or 4 ( lower not higher ) with them ...only when i had to do a reset i sat ... but when i had hours, i had loads....

they tell you right off , if you dont want to work, or you dont like manual labor, then their company is not for you and they hold true to that .. with them you get exercise, you can fold blankets up to approx 200 at times .. there isnt alot of drop and hook, so if thats what you want, dont go is what they told me.. they were always honest and straight up with me ...

i know there are some who didnt like fischer all that much, and that is ok, some like i said have different experiences then others, but leaving fischer is something i regret doing and there isnt any going back ... but so far with knight i am happy .. ill close this now as it is time to leave home and head for boston for a 3 drop run ...

i wont be on much only when i get home, if anyone wants to say hi or ask about knight or fischer and/or want advise, please email me .. the addy is on the profile ...
