When I first heard the news, my first thought was of Bruce Jenner's gender reassignment surgery.

From 05 to 06 I ran dedicated Maytag. Doc to LA twice a week. I'd leave Sunday afternoon and be home friday afternoon. Only made a little over 900 a week but I was only working 5 days a week, technically and it was wonderful for The year and a half that I had it.

I'm sure swift owns 23,000 trucks but only 17800 are road worthy

Could be, but the Feds typically go by registrations to vehicles that are actually owned, title and all. Given the fact that the company has a high attrition rate that number can fluctuate frequently.

The highest level of industry Greed! With this merge these two carriers they are going help put pressure on lowering freight rates which makes harder for the small 3-4 truck carriers down to the 1 truck carriers to compete on a level playing field. They are also going have a large influence on new regulations like: speed limiters, having OEMs add make more safety devices on trucks, driver training(lack thereof), HOS, ELDs, keeping industry wide base pay for company & lease operators low, and other negative actions to keep the 100% driver turnover going year after year.

    SO PAY ATTENTION FOLKS!

They are now the big players and they are going try to control the trucking industry every way they can!!! They have now the political & financial power to do it now!!

They always do ... there's going the enough nonsense feeding the rumor mill. You tell people that change is coming, they panic and generate a lot of nonsensical rumors to justify thier decisions. Then the rumors begin to feed on themselves. You have to ease them into it.

My advice to Swift folks, just ride it out. Nothing is going to change, until it changes and you'll know then. That's when to make the decision. Can you live with the changes or do you move on. Which is just accepting a different change.

    Big Don Thanks this.

As long as a Swift or Knight driver has a decent safety record, there should be nothing to worry about, IMO. Driving jobs are a dime a dozen.
