In the report, the CHP concluded that Bowers, whom it described as angry, psychopathic and delusional, deliberately rammed the building at an estimated 46 mph, even making last-second steering corrections to make certain he would crash head on.
Bowers, who had variously described himself as the "King of the New World Order" and a "messenger" of God, was incinerated in the wreckage, which wedged itself into an unoccupied Senate hearing room. No one else was hurt, but preliminary estimates have put damage at as much as $10 million.
At the time of the crash, Bowers, whose criminal history dated to 1982, was serving his second stint as a newly hired driver for Simon. Company officials have previously said he passed their background check for employment.

This is also one of the reasons mega companys fire drivers for the smallest thing, but Knight will be bent over a wheel and rammed hard on this deal.

I got approved to be hired with Knight yesterday. After reading the leagle.com stuff, I just left a msg w/ recruiter telling her I was no longer interested.

Same old tired quote..."not every company is a good fit for every driver" Sounds like you need a union job. Nothing fishy ever happens at those.

I work for Knight, I have not run into any problems. I'm home every week. I get over 3k miles. If I end up in Washington I'm guaranteed to be there for a week doing runs into and out of Canada and I end up making 1500 dollars a week.
The people bend over backwards in driver retention, and the DMs are willing to work with you on everything, as long as you're willing to hold your end of the bargain. I worked for Conway, and that company I was lucky to see my house once every 3 months and I'd be badgered constantly if I were to take more than a single day off at a time. Knight, I can take a week off, rest, do all I need to do, and be back on the road with the same miles before and after. No, I think you made the mistake and in an economy like this if you're not working and have nothing else you're being stupid to believe everything you hear about the company.
I make a steady 1k a week and I'm home every week. So, don't believe everything you hear. I joined this company thinking I was going to be screwed, and I wasn't. In fact, how many companies are also not forced dispatch? I don't refuse loads, unless I have a reason to, but I won't be fired for saying no to a load I'm uncomfortable with. -
I'm surprised they don't have more hit and runs with so many unqualified drivers out there . http://ai.fmcsa.dot.gov/SMS/Data/BASICs.aspx?enc=lUaByRZXqSVicEnVohU2cg==
Roadmedic Thanks this. -
