I would never go to CRE. If i have to because I can't get hired at the companies I would prefer to work for when I make my return to driving later this summer, even as much as I bash them, I'd return to Knight because I'm eligible for rehire. Guess that tells you my opinion of which is better.

I did too. Money was good, I never sat. Except when I asked for home time. My miles would cut in half and I'd sit around for over a month before I got home. And once I got there they'd expect me to park my truck 150 miles from my house because I can't bobtail.... ever. Knight I do. I live in San Jose. I can park a truck where I live, not a truck and trailer. So I was always screwed about it and if I wanted to park my truck at the local conway freight where I had permission, since I didn't have 24 hour access to the truck because that CFLTL location closes at night and weekends, I couldn't park there even though I had the manager's permission to park there. They'd also expect me to go right back out the next day.

They'd also think that I didn't need to have 34 hour restarts after driving on recaps for a few weeks so I could take a break.

They'd also tell me I must take some load, or tell me to relay my load off to someone else because I had the hours to finish a hot load where the guy didn't because he farted around with his time.

I was threatened to be fired for taking 4 days off after being out on the road for 3 months solid and I asked for the home time a month prior.

I was threatened to be fired because I told my fleet manager I wasn't going to drive through a snowstorm to deliver a load on time. So what, it's going to be late. I feel safer not getting myself killed. Remember oh say, over a year ago, the snow? Where it crippled the highways for a few days? And she expected me to drive in that? I don't think so.

No, Conway's a good company for the pay and the miles. I racked up on average 11k a month but they'd run me 14 days solid before I said no, I need a break. And they'd say no you can't break. You got all these hours that you can drive. Or stick me with the conway freight loads which were rather dangerous because the time is so critical it's stupid. There's no reason for it. I hate JIT loads where the delivery times are unreasonable.

Knight, however, I don't do JIT loads, ever. Of course Knight canceled its accounts with conway freight because of the 55MPH they kept calculating it at with no leeway if you run into an accident at say..... LA. I also have full freedom to say no to a load I don't want to run. I used to drive 3500 miles a week with conway on average. I drive 3200 miles a week with knight on average and I'm home by the weekend. Now I drive 2500 miles a week as Wal Mart dedicated and I'm home every few days.

So between Knight and Conway, IMHO, Knight is better. I am home more often and I earn over 1k a week. If conway were CFI instead, I'd say differently, CFI was a good company, conway is NOT IMHO. Just for the reason I was always tired driving with them, because I could never rest and recharge and I couldn't get home when I wanted to.

And as for the idiot that ran someone over, he deserves to be crucified.

Believe what you want to then. I for one know. And I'm not the only driver for knight that knows the truth too.

And what else is there not to believe? About conway? It is the truth. What's the bobtailing policy? What about where you can park your truck when on home time? Forced dispatch? HOS issues?

Knight - variable mileage and minimum 33 cents a mile and no forced dispatch? Or people like me that makes percentage on loads for local runs, or now Wal Mart Dedicated where I make more money for even less work? When I say that, I mean I no longer do more than 250 miles per trip and 100% no touch drop and hook. And with the way Wal Mart pays, I am guaranteed to make at least 175 a day. o.o I'm spoiled.

CRE - What is it, 25 cents a mile, and doing so bad right now it's a miracle they're still around. CRE used to be good, but that was before daddy kicked the bucket and the kids all took over.

When I worked for CCC, I did the Wal-Mart dedicated on two occasions, the first time I was in Pottsville, PA, and the second time, I was in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, and I had too do that as well. When I would do Wal-Mart and the stories I have heard. If you run out of hours, they would cut you from being on Wal-Mart dedicated, because they needed drivers to run with hours. Sad part was CCC would lose the paperwork and say we overpaid you, so we are getting back our money, were they lost the transflo and they wanted you to re-submit the paperwork. Do not think CWT has a Wal-Mart dedicated.

My experience with Knight was in the mid 2000's. I got sick and tired of driving all over hell and gone looking for an empty trailer, then finding that the only one around was there because it was not road worthy. Back then, you got nothing for this stuff. I don't work for free.

I got sick and tired of having to fight to get my correct pay. There was never a paycheck that either my wife or I didn't have to call payroll to get the money I was owed.

I got sick and tired of the shop in Phoenix being run by a bunch of idiots that could care less about getting you back on the road so you could make money.

Now just MAYBE all this has changed. Or maybe not.

But if you are happy there, more power to you. Come back and tell us about it in a year or so. . .

That happens a lot still, they just don't have enough trailers. But now anytime I have to look for an MT I get paid for the mileage and by the hour.

That too has changed, there were issues in the past but the people in payroll who worked there 5 years ago doesn't any longer. The ones in payroll now make sure we get paid and all it takes is one phone call to correct any problems. I've been reimbursed every time I got a toll, scale ticket, or even when I purchased booster cables and aluminum tape to cover holes I found in trailers. I've dealt with this when I worked for conway too, but really on a regular basis.

And the shop in Tulare is the only shop I go to.
