Hello. Please give me feedback on Knight. I am going through a 5-week refresher course after being off the road for several years. Before, I drove OTR all 48 states and lastly I drove locally out of Columbus, Ohio. I am looking at Deboer and Knight. I am single: my kids are grown up and gone: and I do not own a house. I am putting my things into storage and when I finish this course, I plan to get to work immediately.
I plan to see the country, spend my home time visiting my kids in Chicago, IL, Jacksonville, FL, and Springfield, Ohio. My main concern is staying busy and being treated fairly--not overly concerned about great pay. I plan to stay out 3-4 weeks at a time.
Would you recommend Knight?
Thanks for the feedback.

You WILL have quite a few short runs, but they do have a sliding scale that kind of makes up for that, and it IS possible to get "xtra pay" for some of the garbage runs IF you ask nicely,.
It's a big corporation, so you do have to keep track of what is owed you, and what is payed to you, but that is a function of it being such a large outfit, not any "evil designs" in policy.
They are a far better company than the one I learned to drive with, back in the late '80's.
In the end, most trucking companies have their good points, and their bad points, six of one, and a half dozen of the other. You could do worse. -
Personally I haven't had any bad experience with Knight. They keep me rolling so I'm not complaining.

I enjoyed my time with Knight. Just don't have ANY kind of accident, incident, citation PERIOD within 6 months or you WILL be CANNED!... lol Ask how I know... I found it to be a good company overall. I was upset about being termed at first, but now I have been with Carroll Fulmer for a short while, I like this company even more. No hard feelings.
