okay ty everyone for all your posts, but now it will be just my husband who already has a class b and took the test for class a and passed recieved a permit but needs a drving test,( he drove an 18 wheeler years ago but did not keep up his class A ) or so he told me , anyways found out due to the lack of feeling in my right hand they would not give me a cdl so my husband applied to knight and we are still researching others.

I'd recommend going with Schneider National, but ask to be trained by Schneider National Training Academy....but I guess it depends on where you live and I'd pick whomever has an a operating location nearest ya'll. either way, I'd go with US Xpress; I recommend regional for one year, then 48 state for 2years, then oil-field water and crude (but stay away from sand) for 3; then i'd go for the actual oil fielders as a mixer, fracker, heavy equipment, etc.... and 10 years from today, ya'll can retire comfortably if you manage your money well. Have a restaurant meal twice a week (not fast food), a casino buffet once every two, eat in the truck the rest of the time, keep the same 12hour shift at least 3 months before switching, never fight-just find the quickest or most rational solution possible, be careful especially city driving... think of four wheelers as fragile-naive little puppies raised by mistreated-malnourished uneducated parents, and have tons of fun!

Good luck on your search. I wouldn't be too worried about your first company. They are all really close to being the same. Each one has their own little twirks and some Drivers will swear by them and some will hate them, thats trucking.

Thats a weird thing about them denying you because of your hand. Are you able to fully grip stuff with it or do you have a limited range of motion with it? I'm sorry about it either way.

My previous co-driver was missing his left forearm!!! too bad he was a beach and a hole - he demanded I log 10min pretrips, 5min fuels, zero min postrips, take no enroute breaks/tiv's, switch only on onramps, and drive minimum 660 everyday!!!! I miss my other partner W. H. R.: we averaged 5600 weekly, $45k on the w-2 as company drivers; one would drive 9:45 hours the other 9 and vice-versa except for the low day and the 1-person restart day, never rushed, always smiling, stopped at casinos, petro's, walmart aprox every 10 days, company facilities every 21 or so, TA's , FJ's, Parks, Monuments, shopping malls (some cities/populated cities frown on truckers),we idled for at least 7hrs consecutively, nevr turned the cb/radio/phone on between my 2nd - 9th hr SB, I always woke up knowing I'd have a clean place to go potty and grab a fresh coffee or meal and that he'd pre-planned the road ahead, posible switch spots, possible del time and waiting location, averaged 60mph on the drive line and never touched my logs. We'd be out 33 days-4days home; 28 days - 6home; 32 days - 5home; 28 days -5 home; 21 days -4home, over and over. Too bad he chose to retire.
I still say go with Schnei; or pick whomever has the most terminals nationwide with clean showers and laundry, offers blucross, 401k match, company stock, freightliners or volvos governed at 65mph not less than 63 not mor than 68, 3-5 days off, a/c units, starts you at minimum 33cpm, never dispatches you at more than 50mph with option to self dispatch at 48mph (from pu-depart to del arrival) and is 100% ntf especially with fak.
