Amen. That air conditioner ######## would have been a deal breaker for me. If my AC goes out, the only driving I'm going to do is to the nearest Freightliner to get it fixed. If the company doesn't like it, F em.

200k to 500k miles are NOT old trucks. May be junk trucks due to shoddy maintenance, but they are nowhere near being old.

Oh trust me, its over. I gave them another week to fix it all, and they are now starting to throw a fit at me because I want them to fix the international (replace a sensor) so I can get back into it. Now they are telling me I can't have the international back, because internationals are first priority for veterans and those willing to stay out longer, even ones with 300k miles on it them... They even promised me a brand new International ProStar the 2nd week, but all of the sudden it was re-assigned to another driver who wrecked it. As they were promising me a new truck, I already knew in the back of my mind it was all BS. I'm fighting for backpay as we speak. I doubt i'll get the back pay as those miles were miles driving "broken" trucks back to the terminals. I have orientation with another company, unfortunately its another mega carrier that some of you have referred me to.

Yes they are old trucks for MEGA CARRIERS with thousands of trucks all across the country. You would assume, as it is good practice for Mega Carriers, that they rotate their leased trucks every 2 years or so. Not in the case of knight, as someone has told me they buy their trucks rather than lease them. For a small company or an owner operator taking care of their well maintained trucks, because 1 truck off the road is a huge chunk of profit, 200k-500k is fine. I asked the shop to do an oil change a little bit ahead of schedule, they told me no. Meaning, they'd rather change the oil when its scheduled or whenever it is convenient for you to bring it into the shop after the due date.

OP you seem to complain about Volvos more then you do a bad company.

I personally love Volvos. That truck is way underestimated and I think drivers that have an aversion to them just because the name "Volvo" sounds like vulva or the very least like a soccer mom's car.

I have driven several Volvos with 500K on them no problem. I would take a Volvo with 500K before a new Crapcadia or International any day. And yes I am tall and have no problem getting a nights sleep in a VN670. The 670 sleeper is a few inches smaller in volume then the International but is much better engineered. I am never cramped for space, and better engineered storage allows more stuff to be hauled in the a slightly smaller sleeper. The cab of the Volvo is by far better engineered then most other trucks especially the International. Most other manufactures, including International, re-engineered their trucks to be more like the Volvo. International just missed with the crappy vent windows, large blind spots, the overly bright dash lights, the stupid ugly steering wheel buttons used to over compensate for the long reach to dash switches and radio. Don't forget the stupid flip forward bumper, and the fact most Pro-stars are overweight on the front axle before getting loaded. I have drove day cabs Pro-Stars that were over weight before hitching the trailer. The International engine is a bomb, and even the Cummins are less reliable when used by International.

Knight indeed does buy all their equipment; they only started being Internationals after Maxforce fiasco started to unfold. The price of a Pro-Star dropped like a rock and that is when Knight stocked up on them. Since Knight does not lease their trucks, they do not purchase any extended warrantee. You are at the mercy of the low-rent mechanics that all the mega-crap trucking companies hire. These guys are parts changers at best. So the results you experienced should be expected.

If your such a primadona that you feel you should be in a low milage automatic International you now know you should have looked to a mega other then Knight.

I have driven for megas in the past. Not a single mega has a 2 year turnaround on their trucks. AVERAGE age is 2 years means for every brand new truck you see there is a 4 year old truck out running.

Full disclosure, I'm currently leased to Schneider, so I guess I drive for a mega now.

^^^ Yup, a little simple math seems to evade some people some times.

A place like Knight that buys their trucks is going to have a older truck on the average; they have to recoup the purchase costs.

I don't get so why so many primadonas show up to a mega and think they deserve a new truck of their choice; it is not like their is a driver shortage and their some one special.

That's good to know. Its just too bad i found out the hard way. I asked the new company what year most of their trucks were. The recruiter told me 2016-2015.

Well princess, my complaint had nothing to do with me getting a new truck. I never expected a new truck, especially considering the veterans should get first pick. I could care less how many miles the truck had, whether it be 100k or 900k, as long as it worked and didn't break down within the first few hours i drove it.

Now that i know what they meant, the math is clear. I just happened to get stuck with the 5 year old trucks.

I went from a small outfit with older trucks, which is expected, to a much larger company that claims to have 0-2 year old trucks. I took a pay cut because I wanted reliable equipment.

In fact, I just mentioned above that I would get back into an International with 300k miles on it, if they would simply fix a couple of issues and offer it back to me. A bad sensor is no big deal.

The 2 are the same in my opinion. I dislike them equally both. Just warning people out there about the Volvos, as i spent a good solid fat chunk of the time in Volvos. In regards to the Volvo vs International, both are inexpensive trucks. Volvo shouldn't be liable for having all these out of service trucks at the terminal, as the engine is the same (Cummins/Detroit) as their competitors. It's the company's lack of quality maintenance. I just happen to see more Volvos than Internationals... it could just mean they have a lot more Volvos than internationals. I didn't really have a problem with the international I was in, except for the fact it had a bad sensor, which is no big deal.

AND TO MAKE IT AS CLEAR A DAYLIGHT, I WOULD MUCH RATHER PREFER A STANDARD. I HATE AUTOMATICS, BUT I WILL DEAL WITH THEM FOR THE TIME BEING, AS I HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE IN THE MATTER.

I was interested in Knight starting out awhile back but not anymore. They seem to dump their money into the terminals making them fancy and new they don't give a #### about the trucks. The only people who get new or decent trucks are the little guy's and lil dawgs and sinisters the youtube celebrities. Oh by the way little guy released a new video stating if you can't get something done and need to get to the higher ups contact him lol

First of all a truck with 200,000 miles on it it's not an old truck...
