I second that, never had an issue with idling.

I will admit it's been 4 yrs since I worked there, but with the hi-price of fuel over the past couple of years, it's hard to believe that Knight has gotten more 'lenient' on their idle policies!!

I used to have to pour ice over the temp sensor (bottom of hood) to fake it out thinking it was below 40 deg when in the 80's on some trucks just to get it to idle so I could sleep. Most trucks 'idle on ' had to be 82-84 deg, which is the outside temp, and the inside temp of a red cab while in the sun gets much hotter than that...and again, w/o a breeze even with the windows down, having to deal with flies or mosquitoes, sleeping becomes 'living in a sweat box.'

[BTW, hunny bunny talked about a 'trick' using the Qcom to keep idling no matter what?!!]

I can't speak of what was done 4 years ago as I have only been with the company since October. But all through the winter and so far this summer I have not had any issue with it nor have I had anybody say anything to me about it. Now in the interest of full disclosure I do not idle if I'm not going to be in the truck or will not be for some time, fueling checking in with the customer , driver lounge etc. Just don't see the need to. As for some trick with the Qcom I don't know what that would be.

Get those window screens they sell at the truck stop. They work great.

I worked for knight. I got calls about idle. Even when it was 110 outside and I was trying to sleep.

Just got "the speech" about mpg and idle time from my DM. I told her that once the weather cools off that they will both improve. Nuff said.

What kind of miles are you guys averaging ? Also how is the Lakeland FL terminal. Looking for a company to start out with KR Seems to be decent besides the APU issue. I just saw today that they had ads on local Craigslist looking for Drivers including recent Grads.
    Thanks for any input.
