Landstar is 100% o/o....there are some fleet owners who have drivers driving for them but that's about it.

The freedom to work as much or as little as possible and at the end of the day I have no one else but myself to blame if it all goes to hell. No cordinators or LLM's with little or no transportation industry knowledge trying to plan my day.

Walmart is a great job but its 110% a company driver job without a doubt and its only getting tougher over there. Problem is there really is no where else to go except for a few union jobs where you can make 100k or more a year.

Pay at LS is less for now but that will improve and money really is not at the top of my list. Ive made alot of money and its not always what it seems. Benefits, what benefits? Actually the health and welfare at Walmart sucks but the the vacation and other comp days are nice. Slip seating for years unless your on a 6/3 also sucks.

I drive for a mega carrier but not Knight. Have been in a walmart dedicated account for over 4 yrs now. Doing everything that Walmart drivers do + working with my company's system which means double paperwork, many macros, more protocol to follow and making very little money... sometimes nothing at all...
Despite of the fact that Walmart is a "solid" company, treats their drivers very well, pay them very well and such, I would not apply for Walmart even if I had over 1 million safe miles under my belt and satisfied all their requirements. Because I am more of an "unconventional" type of person, don't like wearing uniforms... don't like being controlled... like someone said here, not my style... Being an employee and having to submit to federal regulations and HOS is already restrictive enough IMO....
