Do you know something that I don't? Is ABF hiring drivers right out of school?[/TD]

They do hire people right out of school just hard to get in you really gota know somebody high up I gotta friend that works out the Sauk village terminal not to sure if his name would get you anywhere? How old are you by the way fiddle sticks?

I used to live five miles from the YRC terminal is currently and purportedly located when I was growing up. In the South Suburbs, one usually had to a) take the train, or b) take the tollroad to find any work. Now that I am ten miles from downtown, I may have to take the tollroad to work--back to the South Suburbs.
I am not too proud to accept any help, so refer away. I have a clean MVR and a "T" endorsement. I am willing to get "X". Can start Tuesday.Last edited: Feb 11, 2013

Ahh Fiddle. Its good to see someone using some common sense for a change. Methinks that I would do Gay Porn rather than bust my tail to work up to 100 hrs./week for $450-$700. If I'm gonna let somone screw me so hard, I may as well get paid well for it. Who knows? Maybe in about 6 months when you're sorting through the bargain bin movies at a Petro, you'll see my first movie, "Gator Boys; Two Tan Punks Bang the Bejeesus out of each other in Gospel Swamp". Or maybe the red hot sequel,"Knight Transportation Mullet Pullers".
formertaxidriver and Fiddle Sticks Thank this. -
Yeah, I am going to put a LOT of credence on his post.
Lord have mercy! -
I put credence in all the attributed authors of threads in my opening post on this thread. I did not directly bash Knight by saying insulting things about them--how you came to this conclusion is perplexing.
This is where The Truckers Report comes is. With those that blazed the trail before me, who DID 'bash' Knight, I gained second hand experience from. I laid out compliments towards Knight before I laid out what turned me off. Pretty even handed for whom would be considered a 'basher' I would say.
I came to my decision after many hours of reading Knight related threads. I would think this would be evident to a reasonable intellect with all the bullet points I laid out in my opening post.
---------------------
I have seen you both defend Knight in one thread, and then turn around and accuse a poster defending Knight as a "Rotten Liar". You seem to have much schizophrenia and not so much credence yourself.

Fiddle Sticks, the "Rotten Liar" post was meant to be sarcasm, hard to get across in text, I guess.
My main thrust, in most, if not all my posts, is that what most new drivers are complaining about is not "one company, per se", but "trucking" in general. OTR, anyway. I have been driving since 1986 (with a couple of years off, here and there), and have had dedicated runs a couple of times, but always quit them to go back to OTR. I just like always being in a different place every day.
OTR is not for everyone, indeed not for most, it seems. Yes, there are many days when I hate it, think, "What the hell am I doing out here?", but then there will come a day, or a week, when I am ashamed to be getting paid for driving! I like it that much.
I wish you all the best, truly, but OTR can be a real bear, no matter what company you drive for, company, lease, and/or O-O. I've done all of those, and some are better than others, but in the end, it's all the same. You go where the freight is, when there is freight, and then you go to the next place where there is freight, and then you do it all over again. That's the name of the game.
Again, I wish you the best, but to base your decision not to work for Knight on the posts of, what, less than a dozen(?) disgruntled former employees, out of 3500 drivers? And you with less than a month's driving experience?
FYI, before I went with Knight, I also did the "internet" thing, and came to the conclusion that 99.9% of the negative posts about Knight were simply complaints about trucking in general.kerosene jockey, Bigdubber, drozzer69 and 1 other person Thank this. -
But the part I don't get is that you claim to be fair in your assessment yet you had to make a separate thread to herald your decision not to work their?
When my daughter was little and wanted attention she would pull my arm or talk loud. But she never made a separate thread and colored her words. I mean that is pretty dang needy, right? -
First, by your twisted pretzel logic, you must be pretty needy yourself to post in a thread of supposed 'needy' guy who is just posting his findings of the findinds posted on TTR and with his conversations with a Knight/Squire recruiter.
YOU could have just walked away from the computer and not responded to my thread--but NO---you had to be needy and type your babble. Frankly, I wish someone posted what I did here. This would have saved me the half hour of typing it and the tens of hours reading threads by the authors credited within this post.
Second, you have not refuted anything in my post which would be a refutation of those that claimed they worked at Knight. Are you ashamed of Knight or something that someone is shining the spotlight on them? Hmmmmm?
Third, you just go on keeping on at Knight. You have fun getting stiffed with your pay, or hunting down a trailer for 30% of you duty hours, or stuck in LA until an empty trailer comes around, seldom getting home time, or averaging 300 miles length of haul.
Fourth, I am standing up and being counted so as to show gratitude towards and salute Trucker Dave 1970, Spaggs, hostage, et. al. who were my warning sirens.
Fifth, it is difficult finding any Knight threads in the "Report a GOOD Company here". Why don't you go ahead and be a good company man and start a fresh one.
Finally, unlike you, I am literate and can put together and express a cogent thought more than once out of three paragraphs in a TTR post.Last edited: Feb 14, 2013
