Companies in the US are not required to give you any vacation at all if they so desire.

At least Knight pays vacation by dividing your income for 1 year by by the number of weeks, and will let you take the time off.

USX paid $60 a day for vacation pay and you had to turn in the truck and find your own way home if you wanted the time off.

Drivers might want to have the company they go to specify if it is paid vacation time off, or just being paid for a leave of absence which is what it was at USX and at some other OTR company's.

The Knight recruiter also said they have 6 paid holidays and 2 sick and 1 personal paid day. Don't know if that is per year or if it can be accrued.

Just as you can't imagine that, I can't imagine the government telling me as a company owner that I have to give my employees a determined time off ! I'm so glad i don't live in Canada........

ROFL!!! If you were an employee, you wouldn't think that way. Everyone is entitled to a break/vacation in our opinion and we darned well deserve it.

I'm glad YOU don't live in Canada, either.

I have but one question. Do you really think that its not obvious that your leaveing out a lot of things? That is unless you lied about hitting somthing, thinking that no one could prove that you did.

Pretty decent equipment to lure the newbies, but all the stuuff about choosing your own work-time,lax-scheduling etc. is bull*^&^.

My dispatcher wanted as many miles as humanly possible off my truck and im sure everyone elses.Turn a blind eye 2 obvious log book issues, and basically have no problem with anything illegal i did as long as i didnt get caught.run,run,run...............

then wrote a ###### DAC on me because i wanted 2 quit

    knight sucks

I am currently working with knight refrigerated side. i can say they r not to bad they r just like the rest of them that i have dealt with. they look out for there favorite drivers and give bs to the others. dispatchers does not take no for an answer they will whine to you till you agree on taking a load. the trucks are nice they put me in an 08 peterbuilt, the only problem is that between 34 to 70 degrees outside it will not idle, it does go 66 mph cruise on 64, there are a few bugs in this one that keeps it going back to the shop though maybe one day they will figure it out. i told my dispatcher it was time for home time and it seems he is stalling. i know there is loads going to ga from ok or tx. staying away from the house 14+ days is getting to me when my kids are growing up without me there. that is why when i do get to the house my truck will become available, not that knight is a bad company just that i miss my kids.

every dispatcher in every trucking company wants you to run your ##* off because they get a bouns for every mile you run after 10,000 a month. I had a dispatcher who would split his bouns with me if I ran hard..And you will find ####### dispatchers in every company. They will tell you "its only so far on the map you can make it". The sad part is I did it for 28 years before I got out now I'm thinking of going back. I miss the driving part of the job.

Most of the Roads West Staff quit when Knight bought them. Knight starved out RWs lease/ops. if you don't mind being treated inpersonally, you can be ok working there. They do have good equipment and pay. goo about getting you home- just don't pretend they like you
