yeah I do. Everyone has one, except the kid that was born with out one.I am trying to gloat either. It would just be nice to see a long thread of good things than rather having to watch this thread keep growing. It is nice to see that it has a good rating though. Nothing like going to a thread and being called a liar and "leaving things out" on either side of these.

Four thousand two-hundred drivers at night.
Six or so persons performing payroll according to DNA Mach.
Let us assume that payroll also has to process the mechanics, secretaries, recruiters, DMs, TMs, and all other non-driving positions in the company--say one of these such persons per twenty drivers. This could result in another two-hundred ten employees whose payroll needs processing.
4,200 / 20 = 210
-----------------
This leaves about seven-hundred thirty-five employees' payroll to be process per payroll clerk in Phoenix.
4,200 + 210 = 4,420
4,420 / 6 = 735
Assuming a payroll clerk works 40 hours in a week, and is not out on sick or vacation leave or maternity leave, then he or she has approximately 18.375 minutes to process a given person's payroll--PER WEEK!
735 / 40 = 18.375
Or just 3.0625 minutes PER DAY in a six-day week...!!!
18.375 / 6 = 3.0625...!!!
Three and six-hundred twenty-five ten-thousandths, or one-hundred eighty-three and three quarters seconds [183.75] to add up any trip sheets and toll tickets and fuel charge statements and detention slips!!
When I worked in an office, it would take me this long just to get up, walk over to the facsimile machine, un-jam the paper feed, grab the sending, collate it, and then bring it back to my cubicle let alone process it.
------------------------
Question for you:
Do you think there is a chance that there could be errors in any given driver's pay for any given week? Maybe even so on a continuing basis...?

daily pay is ALWAYS processed first for the drivers in payroll department and weekly is processed on Tuesday for the rest of the drivers. As far as the rest of the employees, the mechanics have their own payroll department as well as the office staff. Now I do agree that drivers do have payroll issues. I have had them myself. They provide you with a phone number so you can call and find out what you need to do in order to rectify the problem. The DM has to also make sure that certain jobs i.e. local loads are payed accordingly. They have input a a $ amount and email it to payroll as well as the driver must submit a P.O. # when sending in the paperwork. When things match up, you get payed.

You talked about following the suggested routing. When i get my load assignment I get out my trusty map book and then gps unit and see how it is going to take me. Most of the time my Rand Mcnally Gps will take me close to the same amount of miles as the suggested route usually within 10-20 miles difference. I have noticed that recently my mileage from the gps actually is shorter then the suggested route mileage on quite a few loads but i still get paid the miles they are paying me. The suggested route is only a suggested route. Last time i was told i had to follow my suggested route i told my DM that if the suggested route is a suggested route then it is only a suggestion and not mandatory. If it is mandatory then I will turn in my Mandatory two weeks notice right then and there. Since then i have never had a lecture about my routing. If i do find a shorter and faster route i do help out the company by telling them the route. Same goes for directions to the entrances to the shippers and recievers. We all have had those addresses where it just doesnt show up on the gps and yet there is a different address the company uses. I will shoot off a message with the correct address. Better to help out fellow drivers I say. I have run with Knight now for almost 11 months now and my DM from Carlisle takes care of his drivers. Mileage runs anywhere from 2900 - 3500. when i want to get hometime i schedule it 2-3 weeks in advance so he knows i want to be home at this time. I make up my hometime they do not. Loads, I never turn down a load. Yes i have had some crappy loads but they are far and few. I accept all loads because i know in the end i will make the money i need to support my family. When i came into this trucking industry i was well prepared for it. I did months of research on the internet reading blogs, message boards, live chat, youtubing, talking to drivers just to make sure this is what i wanted. In the end this is what i was meant to do. So Far So Good here at knight. Yes eventually i know i will leave the company for a better company, while i am here i will make the most of it though.
Just to show you i really do drive for knight:

Hi guys, just quick question about Knight Port Services. Are you a company driver or you doing a L/P? Im currently with Schneider and doing Western 11 and hoping to get into their intermodal division. Nothing serious so far, I like it where I am at, I just noticed everytime I'm around NV or AZ I see those Knight port trucks running the 15 and 10 alot.

I never drove for Knight but it sounds like they are following Werner business practices. Like I said before, there are no "good" trucking companies even though it is viable for one to be profitable. Paying your tithe to the trucking demon for the mileage you actually run is standard practice in the trucking industry. There is no truck or driver made that can get even 90% of the way to their destination on the trip miles they give you.
