That was directed to the OP, but you bring up a good point as well. Even with your experience at a local gig, I wouldn't touch a starter company with a barge pole. Catching back up to modern times, I wouldn't return to OTR for under 53¢ a mile. There are plenty of companies out there who aren't starters. It kinda makes all that experience go to waste IMO.

Look I have been with Knight for 3 years. As I have said in another "knight" related thread, the job is what you make of it. Sometimes you have to do a little extra to get what you need. I did OTR with knight for 11 months. Had the same problems with getting PO's for local pay, making sure I got paid for all my mileage runs. As far as need something to be repaired on the road, something simple like a wiper blade...i would just eat the 13$ so I can keep going, I can make that back on a local run later. My current dispatcher is not a "pretty boy who doesn't care about drivers". He has been with the company for 12 years. Started out as a drive, became a DM, has been safety, and is now my DM on a dedicated account. He is by far the second best DM I have had since I started here. For the OP you can request a different DM or transfer to another terminal. Also talk with your OM to see if you can come to an agreement. Knight is not the best company, but they are not the worst. I am happy with what I am doing, I am a local with the company and made 51k for 2012. Their are some people here that will work with you. If not, then good luck finding another company and make sure you BRING THE TRUCK BACK TO YOUR TERMINAL! That way you don't get hit with abandoned equipment charges on you DAC.

First of all Rolly, i'm not in AZ. yard. I'm out of Houston. I was also on two separate dedicated accounts. the later doesn't pay what the first did but I am home every night. That is what I want and what my family needs at the moment. Think what you want about what i make. I understand that the OP is upset but all I can do is offer what worked for me. As far as the "knight famliy along with names your not supposed to be posting" thats their deal. Stop assuming where I am and what I am doing. I am a local driver for Knight and I don't leave Houston TX. unless I want too or their is no local for my account. Either way I stay busy and keep working. Don't Assume. Your making an *** out yourself.

You said a mouthful there, which is why I drive locally. The pay isn't much better but at least im home every day.Does'nt make any since sitting at some boring truckstop waiting for a load which could take anywhere from hrs to a couple days so why not just find a job locally.

    $900 last week?
Knight is a medium to short haul company. They don't let their drivers run that hard. A driver at Knight is extremely lucky to AVERAGE 2500 miles a week.
You probably had some miles from the previous week that didn't get paid the week prior!

Before or after taxes? I am guessing before taxes!

How many hours did you REALLY work, NOT WHAT YOUR LOGBOOK SAYS? 100 HOURS???

Do the math. Driving a truck is not worth it, driving a truck for the KNIGHT CARTEL is akin to indentured servitude!!!

I know this because I served some time in the KNIGHT PENAL SYSTEM!!!

Just browse some of my older threads where I describe in explicit detail my time at KNIGHT.

You go scale out and weight 85,000 lbs. Your FM (or whatever Knight calls them) says to go ahead and run, you are saying that the driver should do it???

Im the captain of my ship and if I say the truck isnt going to run, it aint gonna run!

Once again, believe what you what you want. I know what I what I made last year. I am not on paper logs. I am on E-logs like everyone else in the company. Again, your not supposed to mention names on these forums but you do what you want. Obviously you had a bad experience with Knight. That's fine. But don't sit there and tell me I don't have the courage to do anything. I unlike yourself am happy with what I am doing with Knight. My style is to work hard and do my job, safely and in a timely manner. Your style is too assume that the wind blows anyone who doesn't agree with you in a certain direction. Again, think what you want, believe what you want. Have a nice life.

wow, you make my head hurt trying to read your god awful posts. Your grammar sucks. Yes I am happy and all I was telling the OP was the TRUTH, because yes Knight will do what I had posted if he does not. So take your name dropping and shove it. As always think what you want there scout.:biggrin_2559: 30 years in the business, you need 30 years of proper grammar. Go back to school. Have a nice life.

Its sad that because I am a local that you think that I can't make 51K in a year.:biggrin_25513: BTW I never meet the owners of company and I don't have a need to do so either. Also glad to see that you slowed down enough to make your posts readable. Thanks. If you are really intrested in how I possible made what I made then you can PM me and ill gladly tell you how I achieved it.

Say what ever happened to that lawsuit that a few local drivers started against Knight??? I barely remember what it was about, something about OT or paid lunches???

BTW, tell Larry, Kevin, and Randy that I said "Hello!" too. I wonder if they ever bought that new bigger private jet they wanted? That was when they changed the bonus program, making it next to impossible for the driver to earn. I bet the Knight family made a truckload of money when they did that!!!
