To many rookies feel that just BEcause they passed CDL classes and drive now, they think they owed so much. I have worked in trucks and I have worked in dispatch. You guys think dispatch is sitting around looking for ways to screw you over? Sorry guys they don't have time to do that as they are expected to keep you moving AND to get freight to places on time. It is YOUR job to follow up on things as that dispatcher can be handling 15 or 100 trucks at any given time. If freight don't get moved they get their ##### chewed as well, and mind you they also get chewed on driver retention as it takes money to keep finding replacements. There are ######## dispatchers just like there are ####### truck drivers.

My current DM is a driver. He has been with Knight for 12 years. Started out driving, got into dispatch, transfered, became safety, back to driving, back to safety, and currently my DM. I have always said the drivers will make good dispatchers.
Tyler Derden and NavigatorWife Thank this. -
Kudos for 3 months and moving on. Remember...they've been in this biz for a longtime and have it down pat. be grateful that you don't have a lease agreement with the sobs!

What is it with you surf boy? You wash out of Conway so now you go around telling everyone that they are idiots with low self esteem if they work at a large carrier?
Listen I get it. You did not like the job or the hours or the pay or whatever. I know those surf boards and tanning oils are expensive but not everyone feels they are getting screwed if they are not making 100k a year. With a couple years under your belt you are now a expert on the trucking industry? Just as laughable as the guys who say you have to work for a small outfit to make good money or get treated right.
Also for the OP"s original post . You are incorrect in the assumption that line 5 is only for BT. You by law can be on line 5 only when you are not doing company business. That means that you can pull a mty as long as you are not going to a shipper or a terminal to pu a load or drop a trailer. Also you can not BT to pu a load at the shipper or terminal. Another words you can not advance the truck on line 5 from the previous destination if it is to perform work.
And if you need wiper blades Knight drivers tell me you simply go into any Knight terminal and tell them you want a spare set so that if you have a issue out on the road you will not have to deal with the proper procedure of going to a T/S service window and calling BD and getting a po#. Neither of which you did.
When I drove OTR full time lites, wiper blade, fluids, fuses, heavy duty jumper cables and tools to do minor repairs where always kept on board. Much smarter then dealing with breakdown and reimbursement.
As far as pay goes It seems Knight has drivers scan their bills to be paid. If you scan each trip separately you are less likely to have to rescan a trip they for some reason did not pay,. If you do have to rescan the trip you either have to use a new trip sheet or make the barcode on the original unreadable. Also I am told it is better to be on 24hrs pay then weekly since most time trips scanned before noon are posted for payment the same day so if they miss one you will know about it way sooner then on weekly pay.Last edited: Jan 22, 2013

I see you also had a bad experience with them my husband tried them out to see about getting in his own truck and could not understand why he was making more per mile for them and was bringing less home per week than his former employer where he was making less per mile but bringing more home per week but he had all the same problems you were having and then some and don't even get me started on the shop my advice is to stay away from this company I have been a driver for 9yrs and my husband has been driving for 37yrs so we know that you should be careful where you go but we have had a run of bad luck lately with companies going out of business finally found a good company and will be starting soon as lease operator's so wish us good luck and stay away from big companies........
NavigatorWife Thanks this.
