On a similiar note, I've called companies when I've seen one of their trailers sitting somewhere for an extended period, unattended. Once, it was very obvious when I saw a Prime trailer sitting under a freeway in L.A. un-attached, with just 4 bald tires on it. If I thought for a minute a driver was in distress, I'd check on him. If he was, in fact, in distress, he'd be happy someone thought to check on him, right ? Too many people don't want to "get involved".

Driver was fine in Pacific. Still their when we left though. -
Man o man this is a sad happening that happens to often out here its so important to kick bad habits and bad food because if we don't health issues are just a stone throw away. Yes I would knock on the door if no response I would call the company just to check on their driver.

Heavy haul, I probably wouldnt have worried. I would sit days waiting on state police escorts or a revised permit etc.. But its great to hear someone looking out for another. Personally I would have been happy to have someone care enough just to make sure everything was ok.

It's hard to believe that he was visible and nobody said a word

Awesome question; I just had a similar situation last week. Needless to say the driver was fine, but I would like someone to check on me if they had seen me sitting for a period of time. I also had a driver 6 years back that had passed away and dps found him a couple of days later in a roadside rest area. So, guess I would just go with your gut feeling.

If you are nervous about knocking, always ask them what they think about their company,

I've knocked on a door before and gave the company a call when no one answered. I went to the same truck stop to fuel and scale every 4 days and did a reset there every other week. After doing a reset parked next to a particular truck I came back 4 days later and it was still parked in the same spot. The truck was hooked up to a Dollar General or one of those dollar stores which I found weird to stay hooked up to while going home. When I called the company they told me the guy had a family emergency and thanked me for checking up on it.
I almost didn't do it but I wouldn't of felt good about it if I hadn't.25(2)+2 Thanks this. -
a few years ago we were in a long line to unload about 40 trucks waiting. 10 hour wait or so it was night time and most people would sleep in line. they would go around and bang on doors every so often to move the line up. well one truck the driver wouldn't wake up everyone assumed he was sleeping hard so trucks just started going around him in line a few hours later someone finally climbed up in the cab and found the driver was dead.
i didnt know what was going on as i was way back in line and sleeping most the time other than the 10 mins or so it took to move the truck up every so often. didn't notice anything outta the norm until i wake up once and look out and there are cops and paramedics there.
