I beleive it has a lot to do with the brokers not giving a better rate for non tarp loads, so the shippers want every load tarp.
Just like how many carriers pay most of the tarp pay to the company driver.
I beleive at Mercer they bid tarp and non tarp loads the same.
know when fold'em

Oh the poor over worked SOB's.

Yes -
I used to get that all the time at Boyd, the best loads I ever got like that was a load of gaurd rail, and a silo. Both items that will spend there entire life outside. But I pretty much had to tarp everything at Boyd.

Shingles was another one I liked to see tarped. Certainteed in Milan, OH used to require tarps if the load was going over so many miles. Who wants roofing to get wet?
That's why I love my conestogas, I tarp everything.
lowjo Thanks this. -
That one erks me also. Tarp a load of shingles so when you deliver them they just set outside untill someone buys them. Then they put them on the roof and still set outside.

i'd like to know why the brokers should get tarp pay.
and why the brokers aren't ruled by the govt to stop screwing us.Mommas_money_maker and lowjo Thank this. -
Please tell me your joking!
Big_Perv93 and lowjo Thank this. -
Some of them take tarp pay because they can. If you feel the load doesn't pay enough then don't haul it.
We need less government in our lives, not more.Jimmeyjack, SMTatham, Jfaulk99 and 2 others Thank this. -
Couldn't agree more!!! -
I had a run up to AK in Rockport for about a year. I hauled shrinkwrap up there. What exactly do they do with that up there? I never did get to see what they used it for.
