I had a time where I came to a really low bridge... The sign was covered by trees growing over it so I couldn't make out the height... I just could tell it was a very low looking bridge...
I sat at the side of the road for awhile assessing the situation.. I seen a few trucks come through like straight trucks and flatdecks but I still wasn't sure...I had cars honk at me a few times about the bridge as if I didn't already know..
So when I took a look around I decided to take a go at it because there wasn't much of a choice.. Couldn't make a u-turn and it was a messed up intersection behind me to try to back into it would have been very hard.. So I slowly came to the bridge and just as I got to my exhaust I stopped looked at the height and continued on.. Once the trailer was near the bridge I looked out the back window (daycab flattop) and while I was going under watched the front of the trailer to make sure I was good.. Sure enough I made it under the bridge with very little room to spare... I almost shat my pants but I did it the smart way.. Stopped, assessed and went slow when going under while stopping and checking again...
Know your truck...

Your right, that guy a couple of weeks ago made it. He just left his doors on the ground.
-
that was obviously higher than 11' 1", the bridge heights are often wrong, roads get repaved,or they just dont want trucks on the road so they mark it as a low bridge when it isnt..
that looks like about 13' 3"
best to just inch up to it and get out and look at it. -
Nah, he just didn't take it fast enough. . .
The trick is to go so fast, that you are under and past it before the bridge (tunnel, whatever) knows you are there!
