I've worked a teamster job before. Didn't have to pay that much initiation fees though. Mine were like 250 bucks 5-6 years ago. 2 hours of wages were the dues.

After 5 year you have a pension. If you don't know what that really means, educate yourself because pensions are dead for young people that don't work .gov jobs and they are ####ing amazing.

My old teamster job covered all medical, dental, and vision for free or as part of the union dues depending on how you looked at it. It was also amazing care.

The downsides were seniority based everything and also lowerish pay. Getting the union rep around was a pain in the ### too because he covered an area the size of east coast states. Additionally, most jobs in trucking that have union representation have it because the jobs or companies are so reprehensibly bad. I made it 3 years in that gig before my body started giving out. On the plus side, my wages were never stolen, vacation/sick was easy to get approved, management didn't breath down my neck, and I had a life outside of work.

If I could have hacked the brutal manual labor side, I'd have never left that job. Only corporate cucks and oligarchy boot lickers parrot the AM radio propaganda about how awful labor representation and rights are for the workers. Truckers will bemoan how god forsaken and terrible the industry has become but will never unify to improve their conditions. They'll throw a 5 gallon pail of diet soda at another driver 100% of the time before they ever look up and see the 55 gallon drums of #### being dumped on their head by a scumbag company.

 

Also, do they pay in Kohl's Cash? If they do and you have a love of rotund middle aged suburban white women, hundreds of dollars in Kohl's cash will have you drowning in more cottage cheese thighs than any man in history has experienced.
