My driver's door won't unlock from the outside nor the inside. Just started today. This morning it would lock with a key from the outside but not unlock, and from the inside it would unlock by pressing the unlock button. Now it won't unlock at all. Before I go tearing apart the door panel I was wondering if anyone else had a like experience with KW daylite doors. This is a 2007 T600 with electric locks btw.

I've had the same problem with both doors on the Mack, as well as the tail gate on my F250. There is are rods running between the key tumbler, the door lock button, and the lock mechanism. There are more rods between the interior and exterior door handles and the release mechanism for the latch.

All of these rods have threads on the ends, which secure them into clips. When the threads slip through the clips, stuff quits working like it should. Might be the key stops working...or the door handle....or any number of different problems. Every time I've had an issue, it has been with those rods slipping....and fixed it by threading a lock nut onto the threaded rod to act as a bump-stop so that it won't slip out, then clipping the threaded rod back into the clip, and securing it there with a plastic zip tie so that it won't pop out.

One other thing, if you pull the door panel, hit all of the moving parts with some spray-lube. If you can find some that is dry (not oily), it would be better as the dirt & dust won't be attracted to it to gum things up again. You're in there anyway, it's a good time to keep things lubricated so it all keeps working smooth.

Best thing to do, though, is to fix the door before the OTHER one breaks. I made that mistake once...the passenger side key didn't work and I never really worried about it because how often did I use the passenger side door? One day, I head out to pretrip the truck...unlocked the driver's door and pulled the handle. Nothing. Ended up having to break into my own dang truck...:banghead:

On more thing, that hand crank for the window should just pop off with a little force correct? Hate to mess any thing up.

Not sure about KW's, but on every vehicle I've ever owned with manual crank windows, there is a screw that holds the crank in place. Once that is removed, it should slide right off.

Should be a center screw holding it on a spline. Door problem could just be a broken clip allowing one of the rods to fall loose.

Ok ford cars i know had screws on the handels and gm had a retaining ring ubder the door handle, buy a cheap gm retaing ring tool if you dont see a screw, and should feel for like a clip this slip in and then keep pushing on tool once engages the c-clip and the handel should slid off, its on a serrated shaft too.

You have a broken plastic clip on the linkage at bottom of door, to get your door open take as much of the door interior as you can and the metal inner door panel so you can access the door mechanism at the latch at door side. There is a tab at the top off the latch, take a screwdriver and trip latch, door will open. Once you get door open take inside panels off and you’ll see broken clip on linkage!
