- I have the same problem, have you found the problem yet?

After I had replaced bushings again and all tires on the trailer, it finally stopped. But I'm not sure that was the main problem. I believe something else caused all this. I wish I had better answer for you.Blagoje Thanks this.

I wanted to chime in and say that I am having the same issue and my shop recently replaced the kingpins and the wheel assembly and put on new steers and I think it is actually worse now. The problem for me initially started with the steering wheel constantly jostling around to the point of making my hands and wrists hurt and whatever they did recently to work on it correct the steering wheel issue however the cab is still shaking intermittently as described by others in this thread.
Before reading this thread I was ready to chalk it up to this simply being an old truck because it's a 2018 t680 model with over 700,000 miles. I would really like to blame the Eaton 10 speed automatic transmission that's in it because this thing is just a pile of **** and frankly most of the shaking occurs while it is under acceleration. My truck has the Cummins X15 engine if something like worn motor mounts are causing vibration from the engine to contribute to this issue?ducnut Thanks this. -
Friday, I had the 4th service done for the year. It’s the 4th time I’ve complained about the problem. Showed the tech a video of the hopping/shaking. He and everyone else left for the day. 2nd shift tech told me they weren’t doing anything with it. I messaged the operations manager who is right under the ownership. His response was “There’s no way I’d drive that f’ing thing!”. He couldn’t believe I’d been driving it like this, the last year. He’s contacting ownership, Monday, to expose the shop’s neglect and have our other shop look at it.

The cab mount design on those new wide cabs are a socket in saddle style like a fifth wheel mount. Back in the 70’s White tried this on the AutoCars and Western Stars. They would have a constant oscillating vibe that would eventually crack the rear mounts that were aluminum. The walking beam and Freightliner steel spring trucks were the worst at the time. I have seen many of them cabs over the years tore up from it. And they were steel. Not plastic like now.

Is anyone having this issue with the newest T680 model, aka Next Gen T680, or is this just an issue with the "classic" T680 model?
-
I recently noticed a difference in the potential mitigation of this issue. Last week I got a loaded at a place that front loaded my trailer to the point that I needed to slide my trailer tandems all the way forward as well as slide the fifth wheel all the way to forward to remain legal with all my weights.
I noticed that after sliding the fifth wheel forward the vibration through the steering column and shaking of the steering wheel were minimized. Overall the ride and steering or stabilized to a degree that I've never experienced in this truck.
I normally ride with my fifth wheel all the way back but I might change that from now on because it's making a difference.Magoo1968 Thanks this. -
Let go of the wheel. See how hard and fast or slow and easy it pulls to one side.
If sliding the fifth wheel helped. And it makes since that it would. Check the torchen bars. Or the rear tire tread for equal wear on the depth as well as the sides. Those trucks aren't supposed to wobble like that.Blagoje Thanks this.
