You're getting the paccar truck cheap. But that's all they're worth.
They're a money pit.
I have 2 in my neighborhood. Also cheap. I'd be tempted to buy also. If I hadn't heard the stories already.
Same with the Maxforce engine. -
Does the t680 have the endurant transmission or the Eaton? I know the Eaton is sluggish and terrible to back with. But the new ones that come with the 12 speed endurant works like a dream. I fell in love with it. Also feels more stable than the Eaton during slick conditions for some reason.FlaSwampRat Thanks this.

Endurant just came out last year. I agree I hated autos but it’s a phenomenal setup I must agree. My 2020 680’s with the endurant get anywhere from 7.5 to 9.1 mpg depending on weight and idle.
I have a 2014 680 ISX15 10 sp with 530k for sale but it’s little higher then the OP price range at 45k. No warranty either. -
I would never buy a Volvo personally. KW or Peterbilt and stick with Cummins for power on later model stuff. CAT and Detroit I would stay away from unless you are looking at older stuff from the 90's or early 2000's. And you wont find any CAT motor in a truck past 2010 anyway. The newer DD series Detroits I have never been too impressed with either.
Keep shopping and don't be afraid to travel out of the area for the right one.Midwest Trucker Thanks this. -
Well, I decided on neither. I bought a cat 6ts ti drop in my 379 to get it going to run while I rebuild my 2ws.

After asking many owner operators at the fuel island on how various trucks are doing, I have concluded that most 2016 or newer trucks will have less issues because the manufacturer have fixed a lot of bugs from 2011 models. 2011 is the first year that DEF was introduced and it had a lot of issues. I owned a 2011 Cascadia and i cannot get parts for it because almost all of the emission parts have been upgraded to newer parts. 2014 trucks still have a lot of issues. So far, I have asked 4 people about their 2016 or newer trucks with PACAR motor and they are very happy with them. Same for Volvo owners with their D13 motor. They seems to be happy with fuel mileage and maintenance.
I think 2015 and older trucks will be a money pit based on people I know or talked to. And based on my experiences with 2011 to 2016 volvo, cascadia and T680 trucks.DirtyhandsMcgee Thanks this. -
I'm a Volvo guy and was going to buy a Volvo from the start. I asked around as well, talked to LOTS of people, and the word I basically got on Volvo is that they got better around 2014. Not too worried about my 2015 and it's been good to me so far.
