You need a KYU number to long in and make an account. The number on my temporary permit doesn't come up. I called them and they said there is no KYU # issued to my DOT/MC number. I thought it was wierd because I got a temporary permit number. It was just for one trip I had a delivery to KY. I don't plan on going ever again, but I don't get if I have to file now. I put the mileage on 1st quarter 2015 IFTA though.
KYU Number?

If you don't have a kyu number and are doing single trip permits instead, you do not have to file a quarterly return with Kentucky. You do report the miles on IFTA, but *I believe* they may be tax exempt since you already prepaid on the trip permit (not that it should make much of a difference in fees).
I also confirmed with the KY dot bear @ the MATS booth that you do not need to display KYU numbers. They can see whether you have one when they run your dot...kw600 Thanks this. -
Double yellow, thank you for the info. I spent about $40 on the permit for around 110 miles in Kentucky. I don't plan on driving through anymore. I already did 1st quarter 2015 IFTA with home base.
Also, I sent an email out to KY to make sure 1,0000% that I do not need to file. I like to have it in writing, that way if something comes up I have it. -
I just filed my KYU return. 292 miles cost $8.32. I also forgot to file a return 3rd quarter last year, remembered the fourth quarter. Most of them are zero. I only run in there a couple times a year.
I forgot. It cost me $121 for a $1000 fuel bond and a $50 reinstatement fee. ITs a lot cheaper to file zero over and over and over again. then I read if you file 0 for 8 consecutive months they cancel your number anyway. Can't win either way. Good luck. -
I just recently, as in 2 weeks ago, ran thru KY without a KYU permit. The pulled me in n gave me the option to get a temporary one. That temp only last 15 days from when it’s issued.

They have all records of entering at their weight station. By mc or dot number I guess in their system (must be registered through their cameras). Therefore they’ll stop you at the first weight station.
