L/O preferred truck?

I don't understand why people with 0-1 experince are inquiring about leasing a truck...You still dont even know how to drive the truck...I got licensed through Prime and left right away but was never hounded to lease... Are they really pushing all new drivers to lease? I was at prime in 2008 maybe its different now...

Nice paycheck every week. I've only gone into the negative once and that was because of me having to take a few days off for a family emergency.

Prime doesn't push the lease either. As trainers we are actually told to push being company drivers (which I do) you need some experience in the industry before you just run out and make a big leap like that.

I also control my own paycheck not the other way around like this poster has stated. Just wow. This person obviously hasn't leased with Prime.

 

Well wait a minute... You bring a nice check home because you are a trainer also? You stated by taking a couple days off you went into the Negative, how does that work out to be good? You make money as long as you have no life and stay on the road till it doesnt end? I dont understand... Can you explain it a little better? So If you just leased without being a trainer how different would your checks be with strickly leasing and no student on board? Still great money? I'm not trying to be bad here with you just maybe Im not reading your post correctly?

 

Before I was a trainer I was STILL bringing home $2k paycheck a week AND going home every weekend and I did a Midwest regional run. Its all about how you want to work during the week. The only reason I went into the negative that week was because I didn't make enough revenue to cover my fixed costs, due to me being at home, but I made up for that the next week.

 

It's all about how you manage your costs, because leasing a truck as an asset to generate freight revenue is a business. You can pay the oil companies to stoke your ego, or you can manage your fuel costs (the 900-pound gorilla on your profit/loss sheet) so that you can maintain your cash flow. In the 5 years I've been a solo IC at Prime, I've never worked more than 50 weeks out of the year.

 

Well That sounds about no more than it should be IP... So you had 2 weeks of out of 52... How many days did you stay out on average? Im comparing to working a 5 day work week... Like I say I am just curious... As you know I did work a short tiny bit with Prime... Not here to knock you guys just curious.... I without a doubt respect and read alot of your posts...

Recyer... Im still not understanding... If you made 2k a week how could you go into Negative from a simple few days off? Wouldnt the average still take over to the point you were still well ahead? I would hope so...And so you made 2k a week solo and now with a trainee your still at 2k the math doesnt make it for me? I must be missing something... No? Ya?

 

Go with the cascadia evo if you must lease with little experience tho i really dont recommend doing so.

 

I understand why people lease and I also understand why people go to Lone Mountain Truck Leasing. I give kudos to anyone who can lease and be successful at it. I was told by my pops anyone can drive a truck but not everyone can build business relationships. I think leasing represents a combo of both.

Well Lone Mountain is a total differnt ball game... Thats for someone that is going to buy a truck and lease it from them but at the same time lease it onto a certain company... Loan Mountain doesnt dispatch trucks... Correct?
