The numbers are there to lower their expectations. Also to discourage people who are carrying huge loads of debt from applying.

Obviously, it isn’t working. I drove by a so-called sales yard of l/p the other day. It totally looked like a repo lot. Half the trucks there were turn ins from failed leases.

 

The reason why they accuse you of lying is to pump you for any information you're willing to present in defense of yourself. They're playing you.
