I would hate to be lactose intolerant, I don't drink as much milk the few years, but it is still one of my loves, nothing like milk. My sister uses soy milk and some of the flavored ones aren't too bad that way you can still eat a bowl of cereal and get calcium naturally. I guess it just takes getting use to like anything new.
Acidophilus pills or capsules can replace yogurt also, it is the same ingredient as what is found in yogurt, except some brands contain different varieties also. Acidophilus is good for those who are eating fast foods a lot, or not eating right at all, or under a lot stress. But it can cause gas also, so they may need to be taken every other day and see how it goes. Acidophilus is also good (or the yogurt) for someone who is on antibiotics which can kill the friendly bacteria in the intestines. Also we had a doctor say that a tablespoon of flat beer was good to help keep yeast infections down in our grandson when he was on antibiotics.
Beer is also good to help flush the kidneys (you don't have to float a boat, just a half a can helps) as is watermelon juice. Cranberries are really good to help with bladder infections, it helps to keep an acidic flora that helps keep down the chance of one setting up. I believe I read the juice is really better than the capsules they have, but I know so many don't like the juice. And now they have blueberry now that is supposed to be good too.

Soy FTW. I am odd, milk may be out of the question, but cheese, yogurt and sour cream all seem fine at least in reasonable quantities. I say look on the bright side if I ever get constipated, some coffee with half and half will do the trick.
The only thing that sucks worse than lactose intolerance is lactose free milk, I do soy, or sometimes almond but, the lactose free milk tastes nasty to me. Silk makes a nice soy eggnog at least. -
A lot of you maybe gluten intolerant, it is actually called celiac disease There are a lot of products out there now that are gluten free, noodles like soba are gluten free. Bread would have to be changed to gluten free also which would make you feel better if this is the problem.
Elisabeth Hasselbeck who is on the View finally figured out she was gluten intolerant after having been on one of those survivor type programs where her diet was limited and did not contain bread or other products like that. She said she had been sick for years and on this program the stomach and other problems cleared up; then she went back to her regular life and it started back in again; it wasn't till this that she figured out she had some sort of problem. Now she has written recipe books using I guess regular type products for the family that anyone can use with gluten intolerance. -
I can't do soy in any way, shape or form. It's what they call a goitrogen and swells my throat and sinuses closed.

You can be gluten intolerant without having celiac disease. They have tests to determine. I have celiac disease. Was bleeding heavily out my backside (sorry).

So I've noticed milk and ice cream don't have any effect on my body. Although cheese is what's making my stomach extremely upset.

Cheese is the condensed form, very rich in casein.

I used to eat a ton of cheese. Never had a problem with it. From when I was about 5 or so until I was 21 I ate cheese every day, and a lot of it. Id go through a bag of mozzarella string cheese in two days. Now if I eat two sticks of it I'm in the bathroom for half an hour.
Thanks for your help.
