So the other night I'm parked at the pilot in Hagerstown MD for a break. That TS is usually packed and this night was no different. I find 1 parking spot and it's very tight. I'm having trouble and another driver spots me in for which I am very grateful.

Anyway. My GF drives down to visit me. She's great and when she visits if I need laundry done she will do it while I sleep. I am fast asleep and I hear the door open. I wake and ask her if laundry is done already. She says no, I need to come inside with her now. Apparently there is this guy inside that will not leave her alone. Hanging around telling her how pretty she is, bugging her repeatedly to come in the shower with him so he can perform oral sex on her (using more vulgar language than I did here) and not letting up even when she told him her BF was sleeping out in the truck. Then saying he wants to watch us have sex. WTF? So she says ok she will ask me. I think he figured she was alone and bluffing.

So anyway I get dressed and go inside with her ready to beat someones ### and who do I see but the driver that spotted me into my parking spot. The look on his face was priceless. She went to the restroom and I informed him that she had to wake me up and have me stay inside with her because some driver was harassing her and making her feel uncomfortable. I told him no means no and he should respect that. He apologized and left. Things could have easily gone the other way but I was too tired for a fight and the guy was decent enough spotting me in when no one else would.

So, ladies does this kind of thing happen often?

Had it been me, that whole him helping me back into a spot thing wouldnt have made any difference. Would of went in there and kicked his ### to be perfectly honest.

I think it is very common. I've experienced it just in school even. So I would assume that it is common. I don't let any guy help me minus the truck partner or the instructor. That is in swift's school even.

I wouldn't say it happens often, but it is part of being female. It certainly has nothing to do with trucking or the trucking lifestyle. I've met just as many jerks in other jobs in other places.

Most of the time I get hit on out here on the road, I can get rid of him real quick. Only once have I been harassed by someone who just wouldn't quit. But even then, I was unloaded before he was, and I drove off and have never seen him again. Though for a few years afterward, I avoided PTL trucks just in case:biggrin_25521:

In our years on the road my wife and I only had a few little run-ins and none of them were really as bad as yours. Just stuff like drivers flashing their lights at my wife while she was walking through the parking lot (maybe somewhat understandable). I would here drivers talking on the CB while my wife was out walking the dog. Just fairly normal little stuff like that. Unfortunately it is still somewhat a mans world, being that the majority of drivers out there are men. Not being sexist, because it would be the same if the majority of the drivers were women. Men talk crap more than women and are more likely to talk about it or say something when they see a woman. I just looked at it as most of them are lonely on the road and don't have contact with a woman for long periods of time. Kind of like being in the armed services. Maybe a little more vulgar.

When I was traveling with my father I never had any problems in any truck stop we stopped in. I was just under age at the time and even spent one whole night in a truck stop playing video games with a trucker who was a trainee at the time - that was the worst that happened, but of course I made it plain to him that I was underage and that I was traveling with my father. When we both got tired, he walked me to my father's truck to make sure I got there safely then he went to his trainer's truck.

Now, when I go to a truck stop I am usually there with my husband but on the day he was waiting to find out about his truck, I spent about an hour in a nearby truck stop and no one bothered me.

I had more trouble working at a Morrison's Cafeteria and working at a Red Lobster but handled those problems easily - one time with a swift leg up (in the dark) that connected with a sensitive part of the male's anatomy. Another time, my then boyfriend observed the problem and talked to the other guy which solved that. The other time, the guy's girlfriend observed the problem and solved it.

That's interesting.. There's another thread from the perspective of "THE GUY" who's hitting on the girlfriend. Appearantly both stories have "come out in the wash" ..or ..um ..laundry, as it were.

I've been out here for over 6 months and not sure if I should feel insulted or blessed - but no hasn't happened to me. I (if I'm by myself - hubby sleeping) usually am walking with a purpose and am in and out of a T/S in no time. Doing laundry, hubby is usually around some where. So maybe that's the reason no-one has really approached me. Of course I am 50 now, and not exactly a 'hot babe' either - LOL!
