**Update Dec 2019**
I’m calling Landstar tomorrow, I’m pretty much done with having a dick-spatcher, a planner and a fleet manager. Seriously, #### these people and companies. I’m told IHaul is better, but I’ve lost the motivation to even try another outfit.
So I’m taking my truck, going to Landstar and if it works great, if it doesn’t I’m out of highway work. Will go run a day cab, ####it.

I use to run USA, about ten years ago I switched to hauling grain, Super B. It ain't perfect either. The line ups can be frustrating. But at least I'm home every weekend, and occasionally during the week.
Monies not bad, I could make more if I'd volunteer for more Saturdays. But I don't need to work that hard anymore.Phantom Trucker and BigHossVolvo Thank this. -
Well I've been a Canadian BCO for 2.5 years. For the last month and a half I have been trying to decide to stay or not. It has been a slow death of a thousand cuts. Fight and struggle beg and plead to be the first one through to get a decent paying load. Take the standard cheap stuff out of western Canada to keep move only to find there is nothing coming back to Canada and or the rates going back are half what they were two weeks ago. Why? Well most of the freight in and out of Canada is not direct customers at the star, what is still has good rates put it is tough to find good Canadian freight right now. I have decided to give it one more chance before seeking a new adventure.uncleal13 Thanks this.

Thanks for the heads up dude, that really sucks to hear......I guess thats why LS Recruiting is so horny to talk to me, must have people quitting in droves. This is Van I assume? You're based out of Calgary?
-
Yes I pull van. Actually I'm out of Ontario but spend most of my time in the West. I was born on the wrong side of the country. Lol. Don't get me wrong I love it here at the star but I have really struggled to run steady
-
Yea, thats the story I keep hearing over and over, the system/discounts/fuel/tires/self dispatch/apps etc etc are great, but the Canadian freight just isn't there.
Then again, its not where I am or have been either, so I guess its Reefer for me.... -
I'm guessing by your profile pic you pull refer. As I understand it there are a few agents that have refer freight and they work closely with the bcos with refers so kind of a closed group
-
I used too, but then I got into LTL Van and did that for 2 years. Looking to take my truck and go back to Reefer with Ihaul or Versa Cold, as they seem to have unlimited work, and pay better for FTL reefer than LTL Van.
Yea, I've seen lots of private groups LS groups on FB, so I guess its all "who you know". -
Certainly helps in a tight market
-
Just out of curiousity how hard is it to get a decent reefer job? What do you reefer o/o's make a month?
Im currently doing hopper btrain work and im sick of it. Barely keeping a float with a used truck at the company im with and I've heard its the same story or worse at the other bigger outfits.joey8686 Thanks this.
