You can get your physical damage any where you want. I use First Guard, much cheaper than LS. Rates are posted on line.

i just leased on with landstar this week i have one more question about the lcapp deal.does it save alot of money on your wireless internet or should i not worry about.let me explain i have a cell phone on my wife's plan b/c she had att and i had nextel.well i let mine go and got on her plan.so she went to the att store and asked about adding wireless internet and told them about the discount and they won't give the discount unless it is in my name.so i was going to go and get it in my name but if the discount isn't alot then i will just add it to her name and just have one bill.any info would be great.
-
Why not call LCAPP and ask them? Some people in the ATT stores aren't the brightest.
southernpride Thanks this. -
For having your wireless and cell phone with AT&T gets you a $20 off as well as a discount on your total bill. I've never met anyone at an AT&T store that is aware of the FAN number. As Old Man suggested contact LLCAPP.

good mourning to all: now i recently recomended landstar to a lady that was asking for information about a good company to lease to and a driver replied that i was misinformed about landstar and that my information was outdated , well i could not say to much because it has in fact been a number of years sinch i have leased to anyone BUT i assured that i would find out and post this update. well i just got off the phone with landstar in jaxsonvill ans just as i thought i was right.
now there is some out of pocket expense when you lease to landstar a lot of money, you have to pay for a current physical, you have to pay for for a drug screen, BUT landstar will reembuurse you when your hired, lot of money right.
as far as your baseplate landstar will buy one for you or you can run your own as of this date 900.00 for there plate they buy it BUT you have to pay them back over a 9 weak period. all permits are purchased by landstar and you pay them back over a period of time. also insurance.
so in fact there is no out of pocket expense to speak of other then a dot physical and drug screen which they pau for after your hired and if you have a current physical that is good you can use that.
there is no age limitations on your truck as long as you pass a dot inspection if it will pass inspection you got a lease. but a word of caution they have a very good inspection program so make sure your truck is in good shape.
they still pay buy comdata usally as soon as they get your paperwork the money is placed on your card , no waiting.
they do not have a dispatch system as soon as you lease on they give you acsess to there web site where you will find loads going to and from all over the country you pick the one you want and go get it nothing complicated about that at all. when you commit to a load your advance is automaticaly put on your com card . nothing could be more simple.
now i dont have any idea why i take exception to all the bright critics out here today i only speak of what i no and in my humbel opinion landstar is by far the best there ios out there if you have to lease your tractor. now that is not to say that your not better off with your own trailer, because you arfe much better off the trailer is what makes you the money and if you pull a company trailer its going to cost you from between 36 and 40 % yeah its expensive but with landstar you will still make plenty of money.
also landstar does not tell you how to run , you want to go home for a month , not a problem they wont even call, when your ready just get on the web site and pick you a load its your business.
tthis mourning i have talked to the jaxsonvil office and the main office in rockford ill this is how it is ,
no nonsense , no guess work , no rumor, no truck driver story just facts. i personaly leased to them for two years till i got my own trailers and you could not ask for a nicer bunch of people to work with.
hope this clears up some of the misinformation out there , if any of you still have doubts it just takes a phone call to find out .
o one thing has changed, it use to be you had to go thrue a week of orentation, now its only two days .
best of luck to all. southernprideRocks, BuilderBob, volvodriver01 and 2 others Thank this. -
I said your information about our rates was outdated, not the rest of the information.
the rates are no longer justifying the higher percentage they take like they used to.
I'm not a critic. I love the landstar system. it's the reason i'm still here. but the money is nowhere near what it was a few years ago.southernpride Thanks this. -
Where is the money?
-
I've been yelled at for discussing rates too openly. I'll gladly send you a screen caption privately if you'd like.
I will say thoough that rates seemed to be up a little this week, and the last two weeks have ben easier to find decent loads. It's too early to say if it's going to be a trend or if it's just a fluke though.
the last two weeks I have actually managed to get out of southeast TX for slightly more then my break even point and it's been a few months since that has happened. I've been running at a loss to get out of TX into a decent area lately. -
I know what LS rates are, I thought you found something better. Business should pick up some for Christmas
