That happened to me in 04, had thier girl start ringing my phone off the hook, some one at our office gave it to her. I had been sitting at the port for 3 days getting paid detention 400.00 a day, was waiting for the phone to ring, no idea when it was going to be.

Finally the phone rang at about 7:00 pm pacific time, (I was opperating on mountain) I went to the port in Tacoma, got loaded up, by the time I got loaded, got my freight bills and got under way it was 10:30 pm Pacific time. I drove out of seattle, got over the top of snoqualmie, made it into Cle Elum and spent the night.

The next morning at 7:45 my phone starts ringing, I dont reckognise the number, I don't answer, and fall back asleep. I get up shortly after that, get headed east bound. Phone rings again, I answer it, girl on the other end tells me who she is and asks where I am. I told her Just outside of Moses Lake Washington. She procedes to blow up and asks me what the hell I have been doing, and tells me I should have been further down the road seeing as how I loaded this load at 7:45 the night before.

I then had to tell her I did not get the freight bills until 10:30 PM, and that I had been up since 8:00 am the day before waiting on the phone to ring to go get the load.

She then tells me that is no excuse and that there is no good reason for not being further down the road. So I hang up on her.

she calls back, I do not answer.

About 45 minutes go by, my dispatcher calls me, which is weird because he loves to use the qualcom, he then tells me there is an issue, he tells me they are only going to pay 200.00 for the last day sitting at the port because we got loaded.

I told him that I had a solution for the problem and told him to watch the qualcom to see what direction my truck was headed to indicate what my response is going to be, and then if they choose to rectify the situation they can call me back.

Well, I hit the next exit, pointed the truck back towards Seattle. It didnt take too long for my phone to be ringing off the hook. I pick it up, same girl, demanding to know where I am. I tell her I-90 WESTBOUND Just ouside of Moses Lake Washington.

the phone goes dead. 10 minutes go by, the phone rings again. Sir if you please will turn the truck around we will ensure you are paid in full.

I said thank you, one more thing, I dont want your girl to call me again ever. He assured me she would not, I told him I would have the load there on time as promised.

Of the 6 trucks that loaded those loads, I was the first to arrive, and wound up sleeping at the destination because I made it before they opened.

The funny thing is I told dispatch via a qualcom I was there and would be getting unloaded as soon as they opened. I got a call from the girl a few hours later asking me when I expected to deliver. I told her, I dont know what you are talking about, im picking up a load right now, not dropping one off.

I wound up getting all over the butt of the folks back at the office for giving out my cell phone number, my feelings on it is they were there to answer the phones, and I had a qualcom in the truck so they could see where I was, not so I could field questions about when and where my rig was and wasnt headed to.

    BJnobear Thanks this.
