This kills me and I see it all the time. I have access to the LS internal load board and here is a typical example.
The Internet Truckstop lists a Landstar load going 1,626 miles and pays $2,300. The same load is listed on Lanstar for the same price except for one thing. The Landstar driver only gets 73% or 100% which comes out to $1,679.
Landstar drivers get less

yeah, its kind of a bassturd know an o/o with his own authority get 7% more then me
then again, i dont have to chase them to get my check.....
not that LS wouldn't pay, but anything off GL, or ITS spookes me after having my former employeer having to chase brokers for the money
granted LS gets alittle more than thier fair share, for what they do...............but who wants to use a lawyer 120 days out to get thier money.............i dont know about where yer from, but in my neck of the woods lawyers cost real money -
and meathead......i would hope, yer buddy that gave you his login and password doesn't get cought...........LS will terminate HIS contract
just an FYI.....you might not want to brag that knowledge aroundWorking Class Patriot Thanks this. -
Maybe he hacked it...wouldn't be that hard.
Either way...bragging about it ain't smart.Working Class Patriot and broncrider Thank this. -
well, even using his own numbers......the broker board only pays $1840, compared to a bco's $1679, only comes to $161....and BCO's can negotiate the rate up......not sure the "outside" guys can as both the agent, and LS want the most they can get
but BCO's get thier insurance at a discount, and IFTA, plates can be bought for us, and we get a plethera of discounts at truckstops for fuel/maint ?(granted "perfered" carriers can get the same ones)......but most small outfits dont use any of them
so whats really to gain?
yes i think they take to large of a percentage.......but who am i to complain when they do all my paperwork???????
and believe me, they earn that money with me -
I haven't had to chase anyone around for payment. LS pays me pretty quick although they deduct their fee the same as their own drivers.
I'm looking at a LS 100 mile radius printout of loads. There's 19 loads and 15 are also posted on ITS for the same rate except I get the whole amount. -
that i know is not true
LS WILL take thier 20% off..............7 is just not worth it to me to run my own DOT #'s, and deal with all that headache
while i dont dought that they are posted on ITS, you wont get the entire amount they are on our board for......it's just not smart business
thier is a reason our bourd is password protected.........................otherwise it would be landstarbroker -
Not sure where you came up with that figure but the LS load board lists the load for $2,300 at 73% which comes out to $1,679. I get the whole $2,300 and that comes out to $621 more in my pocket.
If I do one load a month for LS per year that alone is $7,452. My plates cost the same as you and probably cheaper. My insurance is also the same if not lower.
You have lots more paperwork then me plus inspections and safety breathing down your neck.
I just don't see the benefit when they pay me more then you! Just doesn't seem right -
yer full of it and you know it
if its on our board for $2300, its on ITS for $1840....LS WILL get thier 20%
ok, I'll give ya the plates and insurance thing, since i haven't checked around in a few years
quarterly DOT's suck, but as long as they keep my prepass green i wont mind them so much.........and i have yet to get a call from "safety"
why dont you try this subject over at the bco forum.....see how long it takes you for an agent to tell you your wrong, instead of just an idiot BCOLast edited: Mar 27, 2010
